Martinez is no longer overrated, as he is now ranked behind Ward. Furthermore, he's beaten better opposition than Junior. Who the hell has Junior beaten that was on the level of Pavlik? Junior's best win is Rubio, who was destroyed by Pavlik.
Is this the equivalent of the "leaving the ring on a stretcher" threads? I think the original was for Martinez-Pavlik, but I may be mistaken.
Another chinchecker prediction that if does not go your way, will use to discredit Jr. Wash...rinse...repeat...
Martinez is going to be shocked the first time he gets hit clean your going to visibly see this, he has no respect for this kid what so ever and is high on himself right now thinking about Ward and Mayweather... He honestly thinks this kid is a bum... and he could be right, but even so if you dont take a bum serious he becomes a serious mothhaa ****kka. and Chavez will come to fight he will make contact early to gain the respect of Martinez and probably drop him early in the first 2 or 3 rounds. 10 TKO Chavez Jr Martinez and doubters are in for a shocker..
Yup. Somehow Martinez went overnight from being some ordinary journeyman to being this supposed destroyer. All by shattering the glass Paul Williams had in his mandible. Seriously, after this weekend, people are gonna know just HOW overrated this guy is.
Evidence ? You're probably heading for a large helping of Embarrassment here, Zak. Martinez is on a different skill level than Julio. The three Martinez wins you mention are all better wins than Chavez's best. This will probably be a mismatch with the Argentinian clowning the Mexican.
Chavez Jr. looked/acted like a ***** during today's press. Total girl with some twisted personality. Maravilla tko
I would not be surprised if Martinez hit the canvas, but likewise I would not be at all surprised if he got up and came back to win, either. On the flip-side, I wouldn't be surprised if Martinez wears Chavez down and stops him late. :smoke
I'm officially picking Martinez by 12th round KO myself. But I give Chavez a decent chance for a multitude of reasons. The most interesting factor will be to see if Chavez responds to Sergio's shots as well as he did Rubio's and Lee's -- and I'm not necessarily talking in terms of raw power alone. If Martinez can catch Jr. with a lot of shots he never sees coming, he WILL become reluctant. Then again, if Chavez absorbs the shots as well as he did in his last two matches, then Martinez could be in for a long night. I'll take the proven warrior mentality and skill set of Sergio in this one. Like you said, he's a better boxer all around and has proven to be something special when it comes to being a tough ******* with a strong will to win. I like Sergio myself, but nothing would surprise me in this one.
