Who takes this matchup?? It seems like no one has mentioned this fight happening.

IMO I think Martinez would have to fight a hell of a fight to beat Lara.
ITs too counter punchers. One with great tecnique and power. The other with great speed and power.

Im actually not even sure on who would win this. Im a huge fan of both.

Lara fights like a higher weight Casamayor, great head movement, and picks his punches well, i think he could do well against Martinez, but in a few years time, when MArtinez is 38 years old and legs dont move as well lol if he try's anything now, he'd get a career ruining.

Lara via wide UD. This class of up and coming Cubans are going to dominate boxing.

Great match up to be honest. Too bad Martinez will likely be long gone before Lara is ready.

Yea, he's 35, but he's a sprightly 35, give it a few years, he'll be in a few wars, especially with his style and the guys he's gonna have to face, so he'l become a very old 38, then Lara with his style, will have a chance.

The fact that this is even a subject speaks volumes as to how great a prospect Lara is.

Martinez would **** him up at this point. Lara still has a ways to go before he's on Maravilla's level. And by time he gets there, Martinez will likely be past his prime.

So basically its Martinez wins now. Lara wins later?

Lara wins now and later, but after a great bloody battle anyway.

Yeah, he's not winning this fight now...

I think Lara could beat some of the current top 10 lmws right now - based off of his physical gifts and solid technique and skills. But Sergio would dictate the pace and tempo of the fight with his movement. Lara's not as comfortable coming forward as he is catching more agressive guys coming in. His timing and accuracy isn't that great when pressuring and his offense isn't varied enough to beat Sergio.

Lara wasnt even that impresssive in beating Perez! Martinez just beat Paul Williams, and Kelly Pavlik back to back. Yet Lara wins now? GTFOH!

Lara isnt even ready for CINTRON yet, let alone Martinez. In maybe like 2-3 more fights he should be able to school Angulo though.

How do you think he'd do against the current Spinks? Or Foreman?
