I doubt Martinez wil fight Zbik. Martinez is looking for big money fights which Zbik can't provide. Martinez is on his last years of boxing career so taking on a mandatory is a thing more likely he won't do.

Yvon Michel heard that Martinez would rather fight Lee, which was rumored here on ESB not too long ago... he also expects to know, by Jan 7th, whether or not the WBC will strip Martinez of his belt (re: refusing to fight Interim champ Zbik). He 'knows' that Chavez Jr (Silver champ) won't fight David (International champ).

Martinez out of the picture, Zbik 'full' champ, Chavez Jr refusing an eliminator vs Lemieux... opens the door to a Lemieux-Zbik fight. Zbik is going down in his own backyard.

And I won't dispute that, you lil tranny.

Seriously, Lemieux is quick at closing the distance when he must do so... I'm well aware that Martinez is uber fast, however you seem to underrate David's moving ability by making it a quick one-liner conclusion. Ayala was fooled into thinking a certain distance was safe to work at, when Lemieux actually wanted him right there. Dodges a jab, gets inside, couple body shots, stay close, one step back and there goes the left hook. It's a killer. :D

Lemieux is a puncher, granted, but let's not throw his technique & movement out the window. :think

After the Rubio eliminator, should the WBC still want it to happen (Maravilla getting stripped?), n-o-b-o-d-y in the MW top 10's will want anything to do with Lemieux... if that's not their mindset already. It'll become harder and harder for him to find opponents who could help him gear up for Martinez. :huh

    Except when it's not.

Seriously I can think of countless recent examples where power beat speed -

    Cotto - Malignaggi
    Cotto - Judah
    Baldomir - Judah
    Pavlik - Taylor
    Froch - Taylor
    Tarver - Jones
    Johnson - Jones
    Mundine - LOL
Williams - Martinez I (ok so Williams isn't neccesarily a power guy but he is definitely significantly slower)

Have never heard oF Lee to be honest. But why in the world did Martinez chose to fight Lee?

Lemieux vs Chavez Jr. will be sweet but as you mention more than likely Chavez will decline to fight a bum. Either way if Lemieux/Zbik happens it should be good!

Just hrs ago, here's what Dan Rafael twitted...

"Ironic: The week Sergio Martinez is cleaning up with fighter of the year awards, HBO refuses to put him on vs anyone but Dzinziruk. No offense to Dzinziruk, who's an excellent fighter, but why would HBO take such a hard line on Sergio Martinez? Makes zero sense. Making it worse, HBO approved Any Lee for Sergio Martinez. Lee pulled out of another fight & then HBO changed its mind. Not cool. If HBO didn't want Lee, say so off the bat. Don't make the kid pull out of another fight (messing up that show too) and then reject it. And then after HBO rejects Lee for Martinez, try to force Dzinziruk on Martinez and expect Martinez to take less $$. "

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=14429&cat=boxer - TBA (March 12th)

HBO officials should lay off the crack... fight's at MSG just before St Paddy's day, and they wanna bring Dzinziruk instead of Irishman Lee?! Dzinziruk has gotten ZERO exposure in America so far. I hope that's a big joke.

Can't wait to see what Universum will tell the media should they want to bail out from a fight with Lemieux... their sneaky response to a $400K offer for Sartison to fight Bute was "well well, we're now thinking of holding a card of our own in January and Dimitri won't be available in March". If the WBC forces the fight upon them, all the better. Zbik will get nightmares following the loss. :hey

Martinez wants to make some big money ASAP, and I don't blame him. Lemieux would not make him any big money. Martinez would beat him, but where's the money. Void won't fight Pac for any amount of money.

Wait... If Lee doesn't fight Vera anymore, does that mean the Texan will be available for Lemieux in February? That would be sweet.

    Terrible list.

A lot of those examples were A level fighters against B level fighters or past prime/chinny/unfocused fighters.

I still cant understand how fans can remain ignorant and believe some fighter's power is indestuctable just cause he has abunch of early KO's against a bunch of bums. The real question is what is going to happen when Lemiuex gets in the ring with an elite fighter that can take his shots? How is it going to turn out for him will it turn out like Valero/Reyes or will it be like Mclellan/Benn?

Cause if you're only relying on the power to win and not the skill set than your fighter has a big problem.

You think he has no skills? Do your homework. He has very solid fundamentals and a superb technique.

Lemieux when he was 14. Just an example.

I never said he didnt have any....lrn2comprehend.

Theres still a lot fo questions out there about him, early KOs do nothing for a fighter other than to raise his confidence. But hell if you and the rest of America's Hat believes the kid is ready for the elite level right now, then sure lets push the fight. Im up for that. :smoke

You also seem to have forgotten that Martinez has pretty legit power as well. As much as its his other attributes that are immediately noticable, I'd love to see how keen Lemieux would be to keep marching forward after he eats a couple of hard shots from Sergio.

As much as I think Lemieux will one day be very very good, its way too early to throw him in with Maravilla. He'd get battered.
