Oh which part does that take away from? You can't take away from facts, I didnt bring up anything untrue nor exaggerated it, what I just posted is the whole truth of Martinez career and people need to analyse that. However, fickle people like you just see a couple of overrated wins and think that this guy is the bomb, struggles in his next few fights and must be past his prime. So the question I asked is, when was his prime in that period I posted? Are you telling me that Martinez who fought bums for a decade, get a couple of good wins, then struggle again with decent fighters, you're really gonna claim that his small window of prime was in that 2 wins? Great way to descredit whoever comes along to beat him next.

Lets not forget that margarito TKO6 Cintron just a year before Martinez took that draw, the fact that Martinez who is suppose to be leagues above Margarito and has the power forced the judges hands into giving him a draw for that fight is telling enough.

You posted a BoxRec analysis, nothing more nothing less. Citing the Cintron fight as a draw when Martinez essentially beat him 3 times in one night completely undermines your argument. The fact that you're also trying to act like Cintron wasn't the house fighter when Martinez got screwed further highlights your cluelessness on this issue.

His prime was from 2007-2010 IMO, with the Dziniziruk win being the last time we saw him at his absolute best. He subsequently has been mired in injuries, which it would be absurd to pretend had no effect on every one of his performances from Barker onwards. Talk all you want about the low level of opposition he was fighting before he came to the US, that was purely a product of his having no promotional representation whatsoever. He was still at his best at 154 and the only reason he moved up in the first place was because no one wanted to fight him there.

Your a GGG fan your obviously gonna be biased and who cares if YOU call it a duck

What happens if Cotto and Golovkin fought at 157, Cotto gets destroyed

Martinez knows Cotto is the easier fight, hes coming off injuries Golovkin is a beast he knows this

Its like when Floyd came out of prison he fought Guerrero, no way he woulda fought Canelo after that
i know you GGG love him but relax, hes still gonna destroy alot of people and make his mark in boxing stop getting so emotional and go outside

I believe Cotto will take Martinez apart slow but surely. Cotto, is a pretty good boxer and i'm sure he can constantly attack Martinez with effective punches and good ring generalship.

It would be crazy for Martinez to walk straight into a Golovkin fight after being off for so long and dealing with injuries. The smart thing is for Martinez to take a softer fight before facing Golovkin.

Don't be fooled by Cotto's hall of fame career, he's no middleweight and has little chance against Martinez. Cotto is still too good to be considered a tune-up but he is a pretty safe way for Martinez to get some rounds in before facing another top middleweight.

One of the only things making a Martinez-Cotto fight better than the Mayweather-Khan mismatch(if that fight happens) is because of Martinez's layoff, injuries, and general unknown about what he has left. A healthy Martinez handles Cotto comfortably.

After facing Cotto or whoever he faces next Martinez does need to face Golovkin. Martinez is the champ and Golovkin has moved into the top contender slot. Outside of someone like Mayweather or Alvarez about the only fight Martinez should be looking at, after his June fight, is Golovkin.

Its funmy how everyones saying Golovkin is a beast but they want Martinez to fight him after a lay off and surgery, so thats career suicide isnt it?

Beating Cotto then the Golovkin fight makes sense because Martinez will have got rid of the rust and Cotto is game

As for Rubio, that ******* got schooled so hard by Pavlik that he quit, crying in his corner. Come on, Martinez, you can do better than that, even if he's your mandatory. Just drop the belt and make the more important fight w/ GGG.

It's an "official result" that was widely regarded as a joke at the time, or do you even remember?

It should have been a KO for Martinez.

yeah , Rubio is NO tune up for nobody. If Martinez is at least the guy from the Murray fight, he should be able to UD Rubio but if he's really shot, he would lose.

Martinez will stay away from GGG if HBO doesn't give him mad money to pass the torch.
Everybody knows that at this point in his career, he simply doesn't stand a chance against GGG. Martinez himself knows that. He would only be there to bite the dust, hand GGG his titles, bring him over, and make him the next superstar and cashcow for HBO.
He won't do that for chump change, that much is clear.
Maybe he even is content with what he has achieved and the money he made, and he won't be bought no matter what, who knows?
Expect Sergio to go through all his other options, including retirement, before even considering GGG.
Apart from money, and atm you just can't make ridiculous amounts of money with GGG, there is nothing in it for Martinez to make the fight interesting.
