With all the talk of Martinez being overrated, especially after his performance against Murray, I've begin to ask myself this question, is he a little overrated or truly undersize for the division?

Martinez has stated in the past that he's truly a small 154lber, which is why he's called out the likes of guys like Mayweather and Pacquiao in the past. But one thing I've noticed in most of his recent fights at 154, he is usually the much smaller guy, and now im beginning to see that he is truly beating these much larger opponents with skill, cause he's certainly not outmuscling them.

So all this talk of him being overrated, I'm not buying, I believe what happened last night (although he won, and if he had 1 more round would have probably stopped Murray) is more a result of age, injury and fighting guys who have a size and strength advantage. Thoughts.

This may be a stupid question but if he is so small why doesn't he just fight at a lower weight class.

Sergio is the most overated fighter of alltime, let him fight Cotto, Golovkin or Alvarez, then if he beats either i'll have respect.

Hes 38 years old with 55 fights, fighting with a style based on athleticism with quickly fading athletics, in a body slowly showing its age and falling apart, in a division hes slightly undersized for.

    That's what he is.

You'll Respect him once he beats Cotto? A man who's lost how many consecutive fights in a row? Who exactly has Canelo beat aside from that shady decision against Trout?

However, I will retract my earlier belief that he can still fight at 154. I think at this stage hes too old to make that weight effectively. Hes in a tough spot, shouldn't drain to 154 and a bit small for the guys cutting big to make 160.

Sergio loked crap last night, he got downed, he got cut, he got beat IMO by Murray, there's a few other British fighters who would beat him.

Cotto has lost fights but would beat Sergio and Canelo beat Trout (a good fighter) fair and square, Alvarez is just going to get better he;s only 22.

Who has Martinez beat of note ?

    once he beats cotto?

Murray is a tougher challenge to Martinez at this stage given the matchup then Cotto would be. And why a win over Cotto would give you respect, at this point, if you didn't have it before, is quite odd lol.

Even a faded Martinez would beat the hell out of Cotto and Miguel knows it.

And the Paul Williams that Martinez ruined would beat the **** out of Trout and Canelo.

''Who has Martinez beat of note ?'' Not worth a reply. So unless you beat a superstar name you haven't beaten anybody noteworthy?

There's no way Murray beat Martinez last night. Murray was too inactive during the first 7 rounds of the fight and totally GAVE AWAY 11, 12. Martinez kept much more active and controlled the pace. Murray himself said he didn't do enough to earn the win.

To beat cotto nowadays isn't a merit and as for canelo beating Martinez, probably not. Canelo couldn't land anything noteworthy of Trout and neither will he against martinez who moves around much more.

I am to the point where I don't like to watch him fight. He looks so stupid with that hands down head out front style. He is not an undersized middleweight. Chavez and Murray are just big for the weight. I refuse to make any excuses for him. He is going to be KOed in the near future.
