I doubt MW goes higher than 157 10 lbs may not be to difficult for him shed if he had to come back down to welter ..I don't see him going up like Jones and then coming back down ..

Where u getting your rumors?? Floyd's not interested in Martinez!! Floyd''s looking for something smaller or Older. I know Martinez is in late 30s now but I dont think Floyd's really interested. Martinez is not a Mainstream Fighter yet. There's more chance for Floyd to retire or rematch DLH than to fight Martinez.

Terrific plan-B option for the fans. I however have my doubts on whether FMJ and his team would view Martinez as an acceptable opponent.

The only advantage Martinez would have would be his size, in my opinion, he is to technically flawed and light hitting to present Floyd with any problems.

Not bad but margarito doesn't have license to fight in the US so i rather see martinez vs winner of cotto-foreman. I think martinez should be able to beat either one and then face the winner of pac-mayweather.

Floyd should forget about Pac and go straight to Martinez.

I think jumping straight to middleweight would be just too much of a step against someone as good as Martinez, if he did beat him though that would be something spectacular.

    6 weight WBC champion.:yikes

Sure looked light hitting when he KDed Paul Williams or when with every punch, he busted Pavlik's face. Sergio Martinez has plenty of power for Floyd to think about.
Martinez is probably faster than Mosley at this current time, he has a jab, he can fight backing up, he can hit with both hands and he's very fast on his feet, much faster than Floyd or anyone TBH.

It would be a great fight. I'd rather see this than Pacquiao vs Mayweather. Pacquiao's camp, I feel are having second thoughts about facing Mayweather. He's just a miss match style wise.

It's a very general term, technically proficient. Pavlik is technically proficient, he does most things right, going by the book of boxing.

Martinez basically fought his stylistic miss match versus Paul Williams and did pretty well. Floyd as technical as he is, is never a miss match to Martinez, who's bigger, who himself is a counter puncher. So if Floyd wins this, then all props to him for being that good. But I don't think he'll win, unless Martinez was weight drained.

This statement being released at this time makes me believe that Pac vs Maywather is already a done deal.

There's an update on this situation. At this point this is an unconfirmed rumor. However, word is that Mayweather and Martinez have agreed to a 65/35 split with Martinez being guarenteed $5 mill and full USADA testing. The deal would only get done if the the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight falls apart. Again, this purely a rumor at this point.
