pac 3 weights below him, shut up pacs a full fledged ww now or is he just making jmm come up for the fun of it. manny claims to be a jmw champ by beating margo after they stripped sm for no reason. why didn't he just fight sm for the belt, oh that's because hes not weight drained or past his best fact. 8 weight world champ your HAVING A LAUGH hes the biggest cherry picker in the sport but all the *******s dont see this because they know F*** all about the sport and before anyone says im just a floyd fan im not i dont even like him and if he never fought again i couldn't give a s***
It is ****ed up. I've always felt sorry for Martinez. He's been the victim of boxing politics his whole career, and it really surprises me that HBO are still putting that much of a stranglehold on his choice of opponents, despite the incredible 18 months of boxing he's given them.
I do still feel strongly that he needs to forget about the Cotto, Floyd and Pacquiao fights, though. He's just not going to get them. I would say he should turn his attention to Pirog, but what exactly is the deal behind HBO putting crap money behind that? Where have you read this?
This BS about Margo being bigger than Martinez has to end. Martinez is a middleweight, has been for the past couple years. Margo until recently was a career welter and the Pac fight would've been at welter had the 154 belt not become available. Height is not the only determining factor when it comes to size, or else you could also say Margarito is bigger than Tyson. In any case, Pac has said he won't fight beyond welter, after the toll the Margarito fight, giving away all those lbs to a much bigger guy, took on his body. What's hypocritical about this all, is this ludicrous notion Pac needs to move up to prove himself, after having moved up more weights than probably anyone in history. While at the same time those calling for it are claiming Martinez is too small for 168 and shouldn't be expected to fight above 160. Fans these days are pathetic jokes Martinez has bulked up recently to be strong at 160. He probably can't get back down to 154, or he would have considering he's chasing 154 guys and welters for money fights. Guy can't have his cake and eat it too. He either stays at 160 and attempts to find the best fights there and above with the super middles, or he makes a serious effort to get back down to 154 and has more credibility in calling out the Cotto's, Pac's and Mayweather's. Can't have it both ways.
Martinez aint got no balls to fight these top dog. He weigh in 170 lbs and up on the fight night and yet he's calling out fighters at 147. ****ing *****....
He's a very loyal guy to the point of hurting his own vallet. But would it help his case? Showtime isn't interested in these international MWs either. He stays with DiBella and on HBO hoping for bigger and better things to come, patience he learned over those long years of being overlooked.
Yes, this. Nothing to do with promoters, HBO, boxing politcs or any of that stuff. Martinez is simply scared of other fighters. This is especially evident when you look at the bums he fought in his last five bouts......
Then by that logic if the fight was at catchweight and they weighed in at the same weight martinez wouldnt be bigger then pac. And i wonder who got stripped of that belt to allow pac to fight for it.....
Agree with nearly all of this - especially the first paragraph (makes me chuckle when people use a person's height to prove he's the bigger man) However, hasn't Martinez said he'd drop down to 154 to fight Cotto, Pac or Floyd? Not that Cotto, Pac and Floyd have any obligation to take the fight, of course. But I'm pretty sure Martinez has said he'd come to 154 (I could be wrong though).
I don't think Pacquiao has an obligation to fight Martinez, but the calls for a match are a direct consequence of Manny winning his trinket. Martinez hasn't won a belt that belonged to Andre Ward or any of the other supermiddles. Likewise, considering the fact that Martinez spent years at 154 without getting a fight, I have no idea why you think he needs to move down there now in order to get a big fight in the future, especially since he's currently the lineal and legitimate champion at 160. Who is he going to fight at 154 if he boils down now and how is that going to help his credibility? Angulo who's twice already turned down a career high payday? Williams and Dzinziruk who he already beat? Vanes, who just went life and death with a guy Martinez knocked out with ease years ago? No win over any of these guys is going to suddenly compel Arum to put Martinez in with one of his moneymakers. Martinez not getting a fight with Cotto or any other Top Rank star is determined long before issue of size even become relevant.
