Why doesnt Sergio martinez move up in weight and go fight Ward or Kessler etc? Instead of him wanting to fight smaller guys who want knock his head off with his peak a boo style?
IDK.....He'd fare well at 154, he's nearly unstoppable at 160, and 168 is flooded with talent. I don't know how old he is, maybe 32?, but moving to 168 at this point would be suicide unless he fought only featherfists like Ward and Dirrel, and Steiglitz. Froch, Kessler, Bute, and Andrade would put him out. He still has plenty of unfinished business at 154/160. Cotto, MargoCHEATO, JCCJr, Pirog, etc etc etc.:deal
Why move up when the bigger fights/paydays are in the lower weights and the bigger risk in the higher weights? Martinez isn't exactly a big Middleweight, while the SMW ranks are filled with guys that are actually LHW's.
His peek a boo style? Why should he move up to 168? He's a blown-up junior middleweight. Pac and Floyd have both won belts at 154 and he's willing to go 150 to fight them. He'd also love to fight Chavez Jr, who stole his belt but won't fight him, or the winner of Cotto-Margarito. He's 36 and he wants the big names and the big money, and he can't get either at 160.
he said once he walked at 180 lbs. there was a thread here once saying he lied when he said that he weighed 165 on his latest fight
