    ...at the Scene.

His mom wants him to. I wonder how s-exy S-exy Sergio's mom is. :think

That said, no Martinez-Golovkin on the horizon... it's too bad, considering Golovkin beating Chavez Jr by UD or TKO would have been a great staging fight for a torch passing match with Martinez.

I respect Martinez and what he's done in the sport, but he clearly, clearly ducked Golovkin.

    seems obvious.

if martinez wins, no ggg fight and definitely no pedjr fight.

if cotto wins, expect pedjr to "risk" for his 6th division belt.:rofl:rofl:rofl

Martinez has been looking for pay days for years. He finally gets one with Chavez and now Cotto.

This is his cash out fight and I don't blame him.

GGG is too much at this stage in Martinez' career. Everyone already knows the outcome anyway. Besides, Martinez fought everyone that people demanded of him, prior to this.

It's not like he took the easy route to get where he is.

But he's obviously a broken man. It could be argued that he lost his last fight.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but if Martinez beats Cotto and retires, that is a pretty obvious duck. And this is coming from someone with a very high threshold of what constitutes a duck.

It would be a massive duck, but I dont think that should be what defines Sergios career (and I'm a huge GGG fan). Retiring after beating Cotto would be the second most honorable thing he could do next to facing Golovkin; it's better than holding the belt hostage while continually freezing him out.

Up until this point, Sergio fought everyone and earned everything he got in boxing the hard way. This would be an unfortunate note to end his career given that it flies in the face of everything he's done prior, but I get it.

I am not sure it's a duck. Sergio is getting old, GGG is young and hitting his stride. But w/e you experts want to think.

Personally, I think Sergio should take the fight if HBO is willing to put up the dough to do it, but I would not take that fight if I were him, if the payday was scarce.

Well, I'm not a Martinez fan, but I wouldn't call it a duck if he decides to retire after the Cotto fight. If he doesn't retire, however, and still doesn't fight GGG, then he will harm his legacy. If he beats Cottot, then decides to fight Canelo, then that's when Sergio officially becomes a joke!

Sergio honestly should have retired after the Murray fight.

And some people think Cotto no longer serves a purpose, yet, look at the exit strategy he's providing for Sergio. Rather see Sergio go out like this than in a brutal loss because it would be due more to his age than anything else. Really says where he feel s he's physically at when he says "if" he beats Cotto, a guy who he has a big size advantage over. I know it's Cotto but still, most boxers let alone Sergio shouldn't be thinking "if" especially with a size advantage like that.

I knew he would he's old and has been having a lot of injuries. This is why I said GGG should have moved up by now. GGG is wasting his time at 160 he's not getting a fight with Martinez. He's 31 after he fights JCC he needs to stay at 168 and forget about going back down to 160. Fights with Froch, Groves and Ward are much better options over anything at 160.

Well he should definitely retire if he loses then.

Anyway, not a GGG duck in my book. If you are old (for a boxer) and retire for good (not like Floyd) then it's not a duck imo.

    Boxing is a hard sport.
Not everyone can be like Mayweather or Hopkins and not take brutal punishment as they climb to the top.
glad to see that Martinez is cashing out, but his pre-fight timing is cause to worry.
Makes me wonder how his training camp is going.

Agreed, but my spidey sense tells me Froch's gonna call it a day if he loses to Groves. Groves already talked up a fight with Ward, so Golovkin might come out of this empty handed for a while.
