Billy, only one thing bothers me about this fight. I have seen a lot of Martinez and have seen several of his most recent fights. Boxing wise he is not close to Ricky of that I have no doubt, he has a big heart however and has the uncanny knack of turning around fights where he has to be honest. been made to look ordinary.

Now here is my problem whilst Martinez does not punch as hard as Johannsson he is better skilled and quicker handed than Carl and the Leeds man seemed to have Ricky on the verge of quitting although to your mans credit he stuck at it and saw the final bell.

It just concerns me that if Johannsen can do it, then despite Ricky's improvement, I am concerned Martinez could break his heart.

That having been said I have already wagered on Ricky and will be placing another bet when my August paypacket comes in.

You have always been very honest on here billy and if you say he is in top shape that gives me even more added confidence from what I believe I have already seen as Martinez's glaring deficiences against boxer types like Ricky.

    Good luck to you both

thats fair enough but look at the number 1 fighter in each division....there all in tremendous condition physically, cut and ripped. the top 3 in your division are ripped to shreds so its working for them.

Nothing punches from Martinez finished Cook off. Poor punch resistance.

Martinez wins this for me. I think Ricky is a very stylish boxer and his win over gomez was very impressive. But martinez is very strong and has been campaigning at world level for a while so I would have to favour him to come through

Cook does have a poor punch resistance ... Luevano had him down 5 times in there title fight and hes not got heavy hands ....

Martinez does have a punch mind you and as soon as he asserted himself in the fight Cook was out of his depth . Martinez was more overcome by the whole occasion and fighting in blighty hence he was a very slow starter in that fight but he never looked in danger and once he found his range and settled into the fight Cook was never going to last at that level... fraid this will be the same with Burns .

the twice i remember seeing burns fight against johannson and alex arthur, i thought he had the style to beat both but mentally i worry about him? as an amatuer he was a destuctive ko artist but seems intent on boiling himself down to super feather and seems to lose his punching power. i seen him over in ireland at about 15/16 ko'ing kids at lightweight and also later on at light welter. also heard of him ko'ing good senior boxers who had boxed internationally. would like to see him win and do it in style just hope his head in the right place come fight time

well your sadly wrong stuey, cook was winning that fight and hurt martinez in the 2nd round after which imo cook's tactics went out the window, went square on and got caught with the uppercut.Burns is better that cook imo and faster much faster and will win this title

burns will need to fight the fight of his life from the outside all night long and hope for the hometown decision, if he goes toe to toe like cook did then it'll be a big mistake i'd expect burns to be put down a few times.

best of luck burns an billy!
