I think Burns will have a hard nights work, to be honest. Martinez is a good, top level fighter. There's no doubt Burns has improved over the last few years, but i'm not convinced he's good enough for this level. I wish him all the best though.

Martinez was allowed to weigh in 149.5 for his pre fight weigh-in. He came in 15 pounds less man 135. I hope Burns preps for the fight of his life man

You dont remember seeing martinez's face when being hit by body shots or being put down in the 2nd or eating cook's JAB,when you go to the boxing mate keep your eyes OPEN and your BIG MOUTH SHUT!:patsch

    :hey

In all seriousness Billy, are you not concerned by Ricky's lack of big fight experience going into this one?

It's clear that he's improved a lot since losing to Carl..... but there isn't a lot of form - plenty of his recent opponents are in the ''past it/never were'' bracket.

He's had a bit of a layoff since the O'Hara win - with only a couple of fillers between then and now.

I can see this as a repeat of Cook vs Luevano.... another outgunned, inactive Brit being stopped by a hardened, if limited opponent.

Hopefully I'm way off and he gets the win and can look forward to some paydays.

    :good

I see were your coming from mate but Ricky's not been out the gym ticking over and we started sparring with quality sparring partners earlier than normal. rest assured Burns will be more than ready come 4th sept were martinez will be in the hardest fight of his life and the best man on the night will win!

Thats what i love about guys like you TROY your first post and you want to belittle a fighter, when Burns wins this title mate he'll be privately sticking two fingers up to the doubters.Q. The best name on Roman's record is Nicky Cook, Ricky beats Cook also, so how come Martinez is leauges above?

is that really top class sparring? martinez is a world champion and none of these sparring partners have ever been above domestic level. these boys are definately good sparring at lower levels but not sure they top class, well not yet anyway
