Martinez vs Angulo: HBO Balks, Demand Paul Williams

Sounds good. Glad HBO is sticking by their guns. Martinez - Williams is the competitive match people want to see not a mismatch between Martinez and Angulo, who I like, but is way too slow to do anything versus Sergio.

 

Angulo brings a lot more money and more fans than williams besides martinez just won the title and he's earned the right to chose who he wants to fight next and if he wants to take an easier fight with angulo where he'll make some money he should do it and then after that he'll fight williams that's two millionaire paychecks there.. you people clamoring for martinez to fight williams dont understand how a boxers career ****ing works.. they dont get multi year contracts.. everything is a per fight deal so they have to take advantage of it when they can.. is not about being scared or anything else is about maximizing your earnings and securing your future..

Williams and his promoters are idiots. They keep chasing after everyone and complaining but they don't want to take a fight that a lot of boxing fans want to see. Instead of chasing after people take the fight beat Martinez and build your own following.

If Williams doesn't wanna fight then Angulo is a good option. But HBO is right to balk at that offer when there's a much better fight to be had.

 

Martinez would beat Angulo like a drum. He needs to rematch Williams.

 

I'm all for HBO telling promoters to **** off when they don't pursue the most meaningful fights.

SHOWTIME doesn't have the same resources as HBO and the purses should always be slightly smaller there.

Anyways, down the line, it may mean that HBO doesn't spend money on ordinary fights to keep more money for true meaningful fights to be made...year round !!
