I want Barker to win. I like Sergio but if Darren can pull it off it would be huge. Good luck to him. You've got to take fights like this when you get the chance otherwise it's pointless.

Taste of your own medicine. ;-)

As Sergio is your favourite fighter, I'll allow it.

That's a fair comment..... but I don't suppose you'll ever know when he will be or not.

I mean, he's 29 now.... he's beaten a couple of decent Euro level fighters - they may think that it's too good a chance to miss, after all he might end up getting beaten by a man in the lower half of the top ten and the chance is gone?

As for Lee, I suppose there's the revenge angle with Vera, realistically he ought to dominate and probably stop him this time, then see where the land lies. I hope that his handlers are prepared to throw a bit of caution to the wind.

Middle has the potential to be a very exciting division if the fights get made, for too long we've seen none of them happening. Time it changed.

    :good

If everyone took the approach that Martinez is too good he wouldn't be able to get an opponent

Credit to Barker, surely a guy on the way up should jump at a chance like this?

We've all been too conditioned to accept this low risk promotion of UK fighters

No need for too many words. Barkers gets pounded at will. Barker obviously wants to be Sergio's *****. Dumb Motherf****g bigging it up in the press about beating Martinez. What about the other Middleweights he actually has a chance against?

I never favour the British fighter unless I prefer them out of the two.

This won't change for Barker. Although I'm certain he'll do himself proud against a top class opponent, NO WAY does he turn up like Lockett, Barker will try as hard as he can for as many rounds as his body allows him to.

Barker will make Martinez look even better than he has so far IMO.

    Agreed.

If Dave Green and Tony Sibson can fight Leonard and Hagler, I'm sure Barker can get in there with Martinez.

Even though being European champion isn't as good an indicator of talent level as it was back then..... still, it's a fight he should jump at.

If we moan about Ricky Burns being spoonfed shitty defences we shouldn't encourage Barker to dodge this bullet, would be hypocritical, surely?

So what if he does get beat. The experience will either push him to a new level or he will realise he will never be good enough.

I give Barker a chance. He is a huge Middleweight with good skills.

    Froch...

@DarrenBarker82 Each day is now a building block towards your World Title. Strength & Honour! Just off to Tesco, 4 Ice donuts for a quid!!

DiBella said everyone they've approached has turned it down and Barker is the only one willing to take it. Win or lose he deserves credit, I wonder if he's going ahead with his July 23rd date? :think
