He will be, and that will be an issue for Sergio, i think. He will know this though, and will have to be bigger, stronger than he was his last few fights. If he can deal with his size, and its just skill Chavez does not stand a chance.
Martinez is not the reason the fight hasnt taken place nor will he be the reason if it never takes place :hat
Pavlik was a large middleweight too and so I'm hoping it won't present too much of an issue to Sergio. However, if he looks to put on extra weight himself, he damn well better make sure not to hurt his speed....that will be the main thing he will have going for him in this fight since it leads to his power. If he isn't as fast as his usual self, he's going to be in for a hurting.
I doubt it happens, but if it does it's the right moment. They've built Chavez up as much as they could, now that they have some people believeing he can overpower Martinez. I don't see it. If Martinez can beat Kelly Pavlik who is alot better of a powerful fighter he can easily do the same with Chavez. I see Martinez destroying him jabs and left hands to a stoppage victory
People seem to forget, Martinez isn't the most durable guy out there. He can be knocked down, and he can be hurt. At 5'10 and according to him, really a 154 fighter I see no way he can deal with Chavez's pressure, strength, and body punching. Sergio is at his best when he's dancing around the ring, hands down and potshotting. Against Macklin he wasn't able to do that until the later rounds, and I don't think he'll have any room to do this during the Chavez fight. You make Sergio fight conventionally, he's nowhere near as effective. Only negative for Jr. is his lack of a jab.
