and not a single thread in the first page. In any other era, the MW champion / Ring top 5 P4P vs. a top 5 rated MW would have been a huge event. And this event should have been in the MSG, not in the Theater of the MSG. What else would Sexy Sergio have to do to be recognized and supported by millions?

Kell Brook's fighting this weekend. That's why. The whole world can't see anything past that. Sergio who? Hope Macklin does him over, anyway.

I'm really looking forward to this fight. Martinez is always entertaining and I hope he's not starting to show his age just yet.

I've seen that there's a lot of hate towards him here the last years which is proof that he is a great fighter.

People are sleeping on this. Macklin is a live challenge. Martinez struggled with Barker, and it wasn't Darren's skill (which is superior to Macklins) which bothered Sergio, it was his size. It's no coincidence that Martinez's toughest fight since Pavlik was against the next true fully sized MW that he fought.

Now Macklin is not as technical as Barker, but he is bigger and stronger, and far more willing and able to impose his size and fitness on his opponent, Sergio will struggle here and likely work hard to a close and clear UD.

The Middleweight division has always been one of the premier divisions of Boxing, but similar to the Heavyweight division, when it's not got a clear American face and is infact dominated by Europeans, then the U.S.A loses intrest.

Should make for an entertaining fight because Barker fought very negative and that fight was not what I hoped for.

May'be but not in this thread you haven't :thumbsup

Also Barker did fight a little negative but that was the only way he could possibly beat Martinez he did a good job of controlling the range for large parts of that fight.

Macklin winning isn't out of the question, he just needs to be willing to walk through fire.

You're right about the Barker fight, it looked like Darren felt he was out of his leauge, (he fought tactical which worked in spots and kept the rounds close, but he is capable of more) which is a shame because I really didn't think he was. Barker has been around the UK world title fighters since he was about 17, he used to be sparring with Howard Easterman at that age. He's also sparred with guys like Froch and Kessler at 168. That fight was not beyond him winning. :-(

Maybe it was smart in a way because he neutralized some of Sergios best weapons.
But he didn't do nearly enough offensively to even have a chance of winning the fight which is pretty negative in my opinion.
