No it doesn't but Pirog got a very awkward style, good footwork, defense and power. Also I have seen 4 of his previous fights and he clearly came in against Jacobs looking to impress which he did. I believe he was a very good fighter to begin with. And what impressed me is how he raised to the occasion. He is usually the aggressor in the ring which would make the fight against Martinez very interesting. And Martinez would respect his power for sure. I'd say Pirog takes it.
Based on these idiots knowing **** all about this sport. They couldn't spot talent in a talent contest. Pirog is a little green to pick him over sergio, but i'm more impressed w/ pirog than i am martinez in terms of talent. Pirog has to answer a few more questions before he's earned favoritism, but it's all there for him. Martinez UD at this point and time
Same here, I have it Martinez UD right now. People who'd never heard of Pirog before the Jacobs fight are assuming he's just all hype now, but he's as solid as they come.
I've watched everything I could find on Pirog, and I think there are most likely 2 ways to beat him. 1) Speed, and Martinez is freaking FAAAASST 2) Pressure, the kid can't fight going backward. If you're in the ring with KP or PDub, and you can't fight off the back foot, you're in a world of ****. I'm hoping Sturm/Pirog happens. Nice way for Pirog to answer a lot of questions. If he passes the test, bring the WBA title over to this side of the pond and fight a top guy.
As much as I like Pirog, and national sentiment in me points towards him, we're comparing a proven veteran and a young guy coming off a big win against another young guy. Really no comparison, Pirog has never seen Martinez's speed, skills and athleticism. Wide UD.
Good post. 1) I agree on this point. Pirog looks akward slipping, and he's not terribly fast. He won't get away with too much of that against someone with Martinez's speed, although Jacobs wasn't really slow either. 2) Good effective pressure breaks more fighters than just Pirog. He does like being the agressor, but I think he deal with it fine based on his defense. It's usually guys who try to walk through punches that have no idea how to deal with someone stalking them. I think Sturm is being a little underrated here. He hasn't fought too many top guys since ODLH, but I still think he's one of the best MW out there. His jab alone could cause problems for Pirog. I couldn't for the life of me understand why Sturm chose to stand right up on Gevor the whole night, and trade on the inside, giving up his beautiful jab, boxing ability and all his advantages.
You're right though, about the reptilian shape shifters I mean. I think we need to be educated. Now, I love the pretty boy, he's second only to Nicky in my heart, but due to these recent events, I'm getting a feeling...
We'll cross that bridge if and when we get to it, my friend. And I want to add...it's okay to admire and appreciate Katy Perry's very human breastuses. They are not in and of themselves, reptilian.
damn guys come on pirog has only had like 16 fights or so, he's not ready for martinez yet, he still has a few more years to become polished and rack up a few more fights, the kid should be fighting 4 or 5 times a year at this stage.
