Zbik's been interim champion for nearly 2 years so makes sense I guess. I can't see Martinez losing this though. Zbik's never fought anyone any good and hasn't stood out much either.
Must be a **** fight from Martinez's point of view. An unknown fighter who's never fought in the US, he'll sell no tickets. Plus he's only the 3rd best Middle in Germany, he'll get no credit for a win. Shame he couldn't get anybody better. At least Lee would have sold some tickets and gotten the fight some notice.
Gets his mandatory out of the way. He would of had to fight Zbik eventually. Zbik is top 10 with the ring, boxing site, boxrec, fightnews everyone so is it that bad?
Well just to get it out of the way it's not too bad, and it's a grand stay busy fight. Hopefully by that time some on the other 'potentials' in the middleweight division will be ready to challenge. Would this be on HBO? Will they pick up Martinez fighting against an unknown, or what will be the story.
Yes they just won't pay the same amount they would for a mjaor fight. Lets be real which middleweight are known to the Americans that he could fight.. Pirog and Sturm but barley. Lee is known but not got anything other than the Vera fight.
Gonna bet my bank account on Martinez to win via stoppage . Zbik should just pull out , after the fight he will have to retire .
People need to forget that Martinez is not a big puncher. Michael Nunn sparked Sumbu Kalambay, every average puncher pulls a big one out of their ass every once in a while. Martinez is a bloody good puncher; but no Julian Jackson, despite his unbelievable stoppage of P-Dub. He's also in his late 30's, and not a big middleweight. Everyone needs to calm down on the hype IMO. Needless to say, Zbik is ****, he should've fought the genuine no.2 in the division, Keiji Sato.
