Zbik is his mandatory, after that he can go fight cotto in the summer, should be a good year for Martinez.
Zbik is undefeated and normally only fights in Germany.
If I recall correctly his first win over Spada was controversial as was his latest win over heiland from Argentina.
But he is a decent fighter and a good tune up for Martinez. Allthough I rather saw him fight Sturm or Piroq to be honest.

Not a bad fighter actually, but will be outclassed.

Go straight to cotto, wh cares about the title, martinez has a couple of them anyway, i think a couple of million dollars would be a nicer than the wbc belt and less money

Well Cotto vs Margarito for redemption is something I want to see, and be honest you know that bob arum is going to make this fight in 2011 its big money and inhouse, after that it will be martinez. It seems logical and you cant blame martinez for facing his mandatory.

Whats Zbik like? I've heard of him but never seen him fight. Guessing he's a easter euopean middleweight (what else is new). What is his style like? Its hard to say what style would be best suited against Martinez- IMO a fighter who can take advantage of him taking the mid rounds of. Allout slugging is dangerous as his timing is very good. Really like watching the guy fight.

He's a horrible, horrible fighter to watch.
If you ever want to kill your love for boxing, watch Zbik vs. Spada I. He throws a couple of punches, then grabs on like a squid, and that goes on for the whole fight. I wanted to slit my wrists before the end of round 6.

Now, I'm not a very religious man, but I'm on my knees praying as we speak, that Sergio Martinez will get the chance to hammer that mediocre pretend-champion into the canvas. Let him see what it's like to fight someone who isn't a bum with a padded record.
If Zbik grabs on like never before, he could actually last longer than Williams... but I highly doubt it.

Sorry that I'm getting kinda personal here, but nothing makes me angrier than belt holders who constantly fight shitty opponents in their own home arenas, duck every big challenge they get, and still dare to call themselves "champions".

Like I know Zbiks stable they won't risk against Martinez. They will let him fight another bump. Martinez would outclass Zbik. I wouldn't wonder about another straight one punch-knockout by Martinez in the first three rounds. Depends on how long Zbik will be running away from him in the ring. Zbik isn't a third as tough as Paul the Punisher.

Not a good fighter either. Outside of Germany, he would be 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Frigging Jorge Sebastian Heiland outfought him. He's about at the same level as Mahir Oral. It's a joke that he's a titlist at all, but in terms of being a mandatory, whatever. There have been much worse, and there aren't that many great fighters to serve as mandatory right now anyway.

In theory he should fight Zbik...
But in reality/Boxing reality, Sergio can easily dump the championship & still get a major fight.
He don't need a "Zbik" type fight.

Sure! Ya! Dump that meaningless middleweight championship of the world! Boxing could use another ****ed up division with no lineal champ!
