Sergio is in great shape, I assume he could make 154 and he and Floyd could meet there. But, from a monetary standpoint, Floyd could, probably, make the same money fighting Sergio as fighting anyone, and with much less risk involved. The fight would be best made at (dare I say ), a C/W of 155 or so, for Sergio's MW title. Floyd challenging him for a MW title, has more commercial appeal, IMO. It would also boost Floyd's legacy, win or lose, if he made a good account of himself. I don't think that is realistic though. Realistically, Sergio has a better chance moving up to 168 or drawing a SMW with a name, down a few pounds to fight at a C/W, IMO. He has HBO backing him. So, he at least has something to offer (in lieu of a large fanbase).
I think May has suffcient money. I think he's rich beyond his wildest dreams. I think he's now thinking legacy. "Legacy don't pay bills" Agreed but Money has enough money to pay all his bills now.
I agree with that. But, to face Sergio at M/W does the most for his legacy, IMO. And it also does the most for both fighters, financially. Obviously 154 would do almost as well. In either case, it's a very risky affair. I don't think Floyd NEEDS this fight for money or legacy. But, doing it for a M/W title, against a fighter of Sergio's caliber, would be an amazing feat, in this day and age. It's a feat I'm sure people would pay handsomely to witness. If he somehow won that fight...he would be ranked a lot higher on the ATG list than he would be otherwise.
Sergio is too big for Mayweather and Pacquiao. If he wants to drain himself to chase a mega fight, then all power to him. But don't expect May or Pac to get full credit for beating a weight drained Martinez. The man is a 170+ pounder, Pac and May are 150 pounders. Since Pac and May are the cash cows, all concessions to make the fight will have to be made by Sergio. The fact is, Sergio is a small-ish middleweight, but a little big for JMW. His best fighting weight I would estimate to be 157-158 lbs. May and Pac are JWWs who choose not to drain. Assuming a CW of 150 (which is the number Sergio is throwing around), draining 7 more lbs for a guy who is already very fit would mean he would be severly depleted at the weight. At 154 he would be less drained and the fight is doable, but Pac and May are nowhere near 154lb fighters. Just my opinion.
now that is a great post. However, I think Sergio would be comfortable at 54 and Floyd would beat him
Freddy Wak Off is an ignorant low IQ ****. Don't mind him. Just one of those misc internet ******s that stumbled into being a mod because he has certain friends and is completely inept at their jobs.
I hope Sergio isn't stupid enough to try to make 150 if Pac or May demands it. He would be a walking skeleton.
