I was at he fight live and I thought that PW won the fight. He out worked Lara by a lot. I dont think that the decision was as bad as poeple are making it out to be.

Martinez knock Williams out cold like no one had done. Yet he's dismissed as overrated or "not that impressive". Well I was impressed with that KO, and impressed with the way he busted up Pavlik. Dzinzrik was a tough and technical undefeated opponent that got layed out as well.

Sergio is more than Hype, come on man.

If by "out worked" you mean threw more punches, then yes. But who landed more? It was Lara. Who landed the more meaningfull shots? Lara again. Who got buckled more in the fight? Williams.

Paul was the aggressor but wasn't effective aggression. He was going forward throwing shots, missing most while getting countered. I'm a Paul williams fan, an thought he was going to be too much for Lara. But it turned out to be the other way around.

No, if Martinez UD'd him you might have a case for arguing that (maybe, depends on the scores and how he looked) but he knocked him out as viciously as you can ask for.

i thought mitchell was able to sneak a few thudding counter left hands against williams as well.

Williams has been in many wars, and was never bested the way Martinez did it. He laid the blue print and Lara followed it. But should that discredit Sergio, **** no, Sergio deserves no discredit at all.

No way Williams was a beast its obvious his timing, speed, power, and aggressiveness werent there. Martinez finished Paul for good and Pwilly has faced southpaws in the past before Sergio and Lara. Even HBO cast brought up the subject had Sergio fought that version of Williams Pwilly gets destroyed without a doubt. Lara beat a past prime version, Sergio beat Pwilly at his best.

Williams depends on his personal judges, but Martinez took Williams' personal judges out of the picture and knocked him out cold!!! Martinez is great fighter, he should get the credit he deserves!!! Martinez would knock Void out also!!!

Nope. The Lara fight only proved that Sexy Sergio ruined Tall Paul.

His stock is higher than ever, I mean did you see what his one-punch KO did to an elite fighter? Pavlik looked relatively good after Hopkins (brutalized Rubio), but **** after Martinez. Doubt Dzinziruk will be the same.

Lately Martinez put a lot of hurt on the opposition, if anything, that makes his stock rise à la Hopkins.

not really but this will give more credence to donaire's ranking over martinez. both martinez and donaire ko'ed two top p4p guys in williams and montiel. montiel then proceeded to ko a dangerous and bigger opponent at a higher weight while williams struggled in his very next fight.

 But when argument fits, Pac's KO finishing Hatton's career only soldifies his P4P place. But when Martinez does something similar, it soldifies Donaire's. :patsch

it doesn't matter to me since i rate montiel more higher personally. also pac smashing hatton or winning a decision over him doesn't matter, he would still be the #1 p4p by that time around may of 2009.

but as it is, montiel has gone on to stop a bigger and dangerous opponent at a higher weight, nobody can dispute this.
