That's right...put Marvin right in the mix.... Greb, Tunney, Walker, Loughran, Flowers, Norfolk,Gibbons etc.... You name 'em....Maybe even a few heavies...Marvin fights with them all. How would that era cope with a mobile southpaw with a fantastic right jab, and a ATG chin...How would Hagler cope with having to 'destruct and destroy' every week or every other week?
I could see Greb beating him by opening a cut similar to what he suffered against Hearn's. It'd then be a matter of Greb worsening it or Hagler stopping him... I think Hagler could fight weekly, or every other week. He definitely had the work ethic and mindset for it.
Hagler fails to beat the elite of that era imo. He always be a step below the Grebs, Walkers, Tunneys and Loughran's imo. Add in the Jack Delaneys and Mike McTiges and Hagler be lucky to be in the top ten.
Hagler never face a Greb or a Walker, the 20's were just a set of BETTER fighters than the 80's in the middleweights.
Based on the fact we have no footage of them :nut , Grebb could be the best ever or he could be primitive we don't know Impossible to say based on this, Hagler was a beast though and he may come out top in any era, he had most his problems with movers although he could catch up to them, I don't fancy anyone to outbrawl the marvelous 1 Based on the evolution of boxing, its likely the skill set of the 80s were better than the 20s
We have plenty of footage of Walker, Loughran, Tunney and others, and I cant see Hagler beating them, and if Greb beat these guys, than I may have to put Greb on that level.
