What makes you think Hagler would KO AA? Hagler Clear UD.
I really think AA would win couple of rounds.

One of the odd things about these fantasy match-ups is that posters rarely factor size into their equation. Marvin Haglar and Arthur Abraham would never be in the same division. Under the old rules Abraham would have to fight at 175 ( 168 did not exist until 1984.) Under todays rules Haglar would fight at 154. The size difference is substantial, and needs to be taken into account.

Abraham comes in at 160 for the weigh in. He then goes away and re-hydrates. He comes in heavy.

If he weiged in at 160 10 hours before the fight, why wouldn't he be allowed to compete as a middleweight?

Hagler may have turned pro at 154. But why can't he add weight and fight at 160? Does he have to boil down forever?

Ten hours is not that much time to rehydrate. I know fighters were cutting weight even under the old rules, but it's my understanding that AA walks around at around 185. That's a lot of weight to cut when you only have 10 hours to get your body back in order.

Marvin sometimes weighed in as low as 157, and would be an absolute monster at 154. Under modern rules I think 154 would be his best weight, but who the hell really knows. It's all specualtion. It just bugs me that when people make up these fantasy match ups they rarely take the changes in weigh in rules into account.

Hagler is an all-time legend in the sport. Abraham hasn't proven himself to be on that level yet. This would be a fun fight. I think that Hagler may have backed off and showed too much respect for Abraham early and make the fight close. This is one of the few flaws that Hagler had.

    Hagler UD15 Abraham

Ten hours is loads to re-hydrate. If it's the difference between 160 and 175 i'm as close to sure he would make it as I can be.

It's not speculation because Marvin fought very comfortably at 160 and came in at over that weight having re-hydrated himself and rested. He did the weight comfortably. I suspect 160 would be his best weight.

The weight issues aren't taken into consideration because they rarely matter, even a little. Sure, old-timers had less time after the weigh in. Doesn't matter. They still made the number.

Whether you give the old boys more time or the modern boys less time, post weigh in, shouldn't be taken into consideration that often. Although AA probably wouldn't be able to maintain 160 forever - that's true today aswell - he'd be a MW in any era.

Hagler is ALL WRONG for Abraham. It would be a Calzaghe-Lacy style destruction. Abraham might stay on his feet, but he would never be the same fighter afterwards.

hagler would destroy AA. this is a brutally lopsided matchup.

Exactly. Marvin would have destroyed him. Two totally different class of fighters.

I agree. Most people seem to have suggested that AA could survive by doing the basics well. Really, a precise puncher who doesn't leave himself exposed to counter-bombs with enough power to break AA's guard is a stylistic nightmare. A towel could come in, or it would be a lopsided beat-down.

With Hagler's jab, Abraham wouldn't be able to do much of anything and he'd get broken down and outclassed.

Its not really much of a collision when everyones saying its a KO victory for hagler. Hagler will beat the crap out of queen arthur.
