Great post, great comprehension of what elite level championship boxing and fighting is all about. Kudos, fella...

Although I am a Hagler fanatic, I was beginning to be swayed a bit by reading the posts that were picking Jones....That is until Sonehands set me straight. I kinda feel guilty.

While its true that Jones spent little time at middleweight and was still a work in progess in that division, his true prime ranged from Super middle to light heavy. If he and Hagler had met at a catch weight when at their best( something Marvin would not likely agree to ) Roy would have to be favored in my eyes. I think he was naturally a bigger, faster and more athletic fighter. Roy's chin has become underrated too. He didn't start suffering stoppage losses until he was 35 and beyond and against big men.

I'll give it to Jones. It basically comes down to one of the best light heavyweights vs one of the best middleweights. Great small guy vs great big guy.

Don't know if "lefthook31" has passed but he was by far one of the real knowledgeable guys on boxing. If 1931 was his year he might have gone by now since I don't see a post after 2011 (might have been 80). He's got a bunch of top notch posts in the history coming from someone who has actually "been there".

    Top stuff
