Hagler had been slipping the Roldan fight was the beginning of the decline, as someone said 60+ fights and allot of hard training and fights. So yes he was past his best by Mugabi time.

Hagler was a boxer puncher most of his career, the puncher brawler is wrong. He did put it all out there in the Hearns fight. He was a very good not great defensive fighter (great being Benitez, Whittaker etc), and a very good all around fighter. Sometimes not the best strategic thinker at times. But sometimes the other guy has something to say about that also.

He lost to SRL becuase he employed a stupid tactical plan. Although it was still close, and both not in their prime. He still had enough to beat SRL at that time but blew it.

Had SRL moved up in the early 80's he would have lost, he knew that and tried to bait MH, trying to have MH fight at 154.

I agree and a big MH fan, you can argue that MH should have gotten maybe rd 3 or 4 ( I forget which), making it 3-1 after 4 but still. He gave it away and should have changed tactics after rd2. That may have changed the outcome.

    But the history is written.

Eugene(Cyclone)Hart,Bennie Briscoe,Bobby(Boogaloo)Watts,Willie(the Worm)Monroe and "Sugar"Ray Seales were all excellent middleweights who spent the late 70's and early 80's beating the hell out of each other in and around Philadelphia. In any other era(of course this was at the end of Monzon's)any one of them could have been Middleweight Champ. So what does each and every one of them have in common besides fighting each other?Marvin Hagler knocked all of them out with the exception of Briscoe, whom Marvin decisioned convincingly.Briscoe is actually one of the 3 greatest fighters never to have won a world title as the other 2 are Harry Wills and Charlie Burley.Briscoe lost twice to the great Monzon. So much for your silly theory about Marvin making his reputation against smaller men.Even if we'd never heard of Duran,Hearns and Leonard,Hagler is an easy first ballot Hall of Famer. As far as the first Antuofermo fight,Hagler was robbed and crushed Vito in the rematch. And what about Leonard?Extremely mediocre Ayub Kalule gave Sugar all he could handle, too,in Leonard's supposed prime. And no,Leonard didn't hand Hagler his ass.Leonard ran all night long and couldn't even put a mark on bleeder Marvin's face, tsk, tsk. However Macho Camacho handed Leonard his ass(5 round ko)which was a far more hilarious thing that Camacho ever did in his career.

Don't think so, it's Leonard's style that makes you think that way. Leonard beat Hagler in my eyes, the fight was close and could have gone either way but for me Leonard took it.

The joke is Ray fighting again. The fact Camacho is the one who ended his career when Ray did not have a win in almost 10 years doesn't mean much. Camacho never could beat a prime great fighter. Anyone would have beaten Ray that night.

I do think Ray waited for Hagler to get old that is for sure, but the quality of fighter Ray was in his prime is no worse than Marvin. Ray was top notch and proved it in the 1980s with all the greats. And on April 6, 1987 he outpointed Marvin and deserved the win. I am not saying he beat a prime Hagler. Hagler was on the downside of his career since he was starting to be inactive. Hagler's strength was always activity and being sharp and Ray knew he could beat him. That is why Ray fought him then.

    I agree to.

Hagler was on the front foot all night, while Leonard "stole" rounds with late shoe shining.

That jack hammer jab that broke Sibson down was a very good sight, esp to double jab in the 5th.
