Hello all, I wanted to flag up that I have authored a biography of Marvin Hagler, which is due out on 1 October. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Marvelous-T...ie=UTF8&qid=1377174094&sr=8-1&keywords=hagler It can be pre-ordered now. Happy to answer any questions - This content is protected - if needed. Cheers Damian Hughes
I still remember all the hype and build up for the Hagler v Leonard fight, absolute classic, really got me into the sport...gutted there was never a rematch as thought Hagler deserved the win. Btw, anyone remember/know who showed Hagler's fights in Britain? Was it Itv? Did the Hagler v Hearn's fight get shown on terrestrial?
All of Hagler's fights were shown on ITV bar the Sibson fight, if my memory serves me right. The Sibson fight was on bbc 1.
my father still cries over the Hagler / Leonard fight. reckons it was the biggest injustice in boxing history. Even when we watch current middleweights i always say. "Rate him against Hagler Dad" "Hagler would have cut him up to shreds within 6" i think ill order this book for my pops :good
Know what you mean, what an era - When you think he fought Leonard, Hearns and Duran in the space of a few years. I grew up in the 80s so don't clearly remember all those at the time but remember the John 'the Beast' Mugabi fight as being a real fight of the year war.
Hagler has been living in Italy, made movies. He beat Leonard, but was cheated, so he left America and retired. I don't blame him...............
Thanks for your interest and good wishes. It is very much appreciated. I hope that you enjoy reading the book as much as we enjoyed writing it. Cheers Damian
