Marvin Hagler’s best title defense

Have to see Hearns regardless of Tommy rising in weight to face him. And the hitman was an exceptional case anyway. He ended up winning titles above middleweight. Not only was it his best win but the fight itself is one of the best classics in history.

 

Definitely Hearns. Hagler was # 1 pound for pound and Hearns was #2. Hearns was a serious threat and it was a real 50/50 fight. Hagler had to walk through fire to get this win and he pulled it off!

 

Hearns I'd say without a doubt. The instant he knew the doctor was wary about the cut, Marvin turned it up and put Tommy down before the end of the third round! Not to mention coming out raging and fighting through some of the hardest bombs thrown at Middleweight, bar ever.

Also a reminder that the only win quicker between the four kings is Hearns' own win over Duran, which people already respect as a monstrous scalp.

 

Hearns. The hype was insane and Hagler walked right through him in three brutal rounds. I don't think anybody thought it would end that early.

Scypion.

Scypion trained like a Spartan and was a legit top 10 Middleweight. Once the bell sounded, Hagler beat him down like he was a 6 round preliminary journeyman despite Scypion's drive and talent and it was a brutal one sided defense. That's the fight I remember Hagler most for,

 

Mugabi was a damn good win as well. But to pinpoint his best win, I’d have to go with HEARNS.

 

THE FIGHT: April 15, 1985. Also known as "The War" for 3 rounds of mayhem. Everything about that night, the opponent, the venue, both of their nicknames, the action, the ring announcer, the round card girls...
