This top 100 is hard. I know too many obscure greats. Won't be done by today, more like next week. I'm determined to think carefully about each and every pick so I can justify my placements and not randomise it. At the moment I'm not putting the numbers down to avoid '****, Monzon's at #30.' I'm using a system of tiers.
Hagler is a fighter's fighter, which by definition makes him very much unlike Roy Jones IMO. To answer the topic, Hagler has a few losses and draws, all which are disputed by him. He was never decisively beaten or knocked out. Ever. That alone seperates him from Napoles and Ortiz (fair or unfair).
i TOTALLY UNDERSTAND MANASSA (oops, caps) Hmmm........I rank Hagler very high, based on his all-round ability, ATG chin (I take ability/attributes into consideration as well as resume, although the latter is the most important factor for me) and dominance see him rank highly. But anywhere between 10-35 is fair IMO. It's what you like when it comes to Hagler IMO
Ye Lil' Wil Thompson was a fighter of the LPR rules Turps'... as I'm sure you are aware.. Darcy himself was a fighter of the finest nature.. A true classic of the era. To be held away from Ketchel, in any top 30 is a gross discredit.. Unfortunately, many dismiss Darcy, mainly through lack of knowlege. C'est la vie..
I have Marvin Hagler in my top 10 (I base my list heavily on Hd 2 Hd, also ability, quality of opposition and record)
:goodyou know the criteria on here, the older and more obscure they are,the better. hence there's no film of mrs thompson's son, william, obviously so therefore he is the greatest. greb better than hagler.....................how
There are enough quality fighters in history, as Manassa illustrates, that rating Hagler outside of a Top 20 list all time hardly constitutes a crime. I would say that he's undoubtedly in everyone's Top 50 for sure, and almost certainly a lock for Top 5 at middleweight all time.
