Been getting into watching more southpaw fighters, what is Hagler's best performance when he was at his peak?
If its not the Minter fight, it might be the Scypion defense. He intimidated a really solid and tough fighter before the opening bell and thrashed him mercilessly afterwards.
The first Hamsho fight highlighted Hagler's abilities as a boxer the best. His movement, the jab,the pin-point accurate combinations, his counter-punching - and,in Hamsho,he had the best possible opponent to demonstrate these abilities against. It was incredibly violent, yet Hagler was so artistic in his approach that it's difficult not to see the beauty in this fight.
Against Fully Obel & Sibbo he was superb & as Sibbo said afterwards in his dressing room "He's just so accurate":smoke
His prime was basically Minter to Sibson ... he was a terror during that period and it was a highly under rated group of men he fought ... really some very tough guys ... Much better than Monzon's or Robinson's opposition ...
