Bhop. Big middle weight great mobility and defense and in his prime had more offensive production than we've seen in recent years. Hagler has all the tools except the most crucial one, speed. Hagler wasn't slow but he does not have rjj jc jt speed. And correct me if I'm wrong but I think hagler was a south paw. Hopkins owns south paws(can anybody say sneaky lead right). Hopkins by ud. In the post fight hagler complains about excessive holding.
Sounds reasonable. Nostalgia makes Hagler look like an invincible beast. He was great in his own time, but Hopkins would beat everyone Hagler beat. Not sure if Hagler could bully Tarver around the ring. Hopkins can't handle speed well but in his prime he was as fast as Hagler and with a height and reach advantage.
why does everone for some supid reason think hopkins will get knocked out? you ******s he's never even been wobbled only had one, I REPEAT ONE flash knockdown and still won then won the rematch also. marvin would hurt him but hopkins would just adjust to whichever style fits marvins style, if you actually knw something about hopkins he is very similar to mayweather not just because they're both counter-punchers, they both can adjust very well and hopkins has done it alot of times, like he did against trinidad and others. so i would say a close disputed split decision for hopkins
would be an intruiging match up in my book. 2 fighters with great chins 2 fighters who can both adapt styles in the ring 2 fighters who are physically strong at middleweight and can handle the rough stuff i'm not a big fan of hopkins because theres certain things i don't like about him, but he's a clever man and a clever fighter, no one gets an easy fight with hopkins. i think i'd lean towards a close points decision for hagler, maybe a split decision. i'm pretty certain that there would be no knockout in this fight.
i absolutely love both fighters but would give it to Hopkins by a close decision. Solely due to Hopkins' gift of taking away his opponents best attributes and so i think hagler would have to be very versatile to beat him. However, i don't deny that Hagler would have a great chance but those of you saying by KO, come on!! Hopkins will never get KO'd, he's too defensively sound for that
Hagler is n.1 all-time p4p on my list. He never really lost, except for 2 BS decisions against hometown fighters (which he put to sleep in rematches) and the political loss to Leonard. Depending on the opponent, he could either be a brawler or a boxer, and he was excellent at both. He would outbox Hopkins just like he outboxed Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran.
This is s good fight & i'am a huge fan of B-Hop but Hagler will always be too busy & workman like for Bernard, Marvin's just that notch higher so it's a UD for Hagler.
Assuming BHop actually boxes and stays away from the out right dirty tactics - Hagler by late TKO or UD. BHop's defense is good but Hagler's two fisted power attacks will give him 10/9 rounds and probably 2-3 10/8 rounds. Hagler is BHops MOST DIFFICULT match up ever. BHop is NOT Hagler's most difficult match up ever (stylistically and athletically - see SRL)
Hagler by UD, hopkins doesnt get KO'd but has a few scares along the way Haglers too busy for Hopkins
