Completely disagree that Hagler would have stopped Calzaghe. Joe is the same height as Tommy Hearns, but with an iron chin, probably faster hands and the opposite reaction to being hit. When Joe got hit with good punches, he immediately retalliated with total aggression.

There is a good reason why Hagler tayed at middleweight, where he could impose his strength. Because of his greatness at 160, it is easy to claim that he could have moved up and be as devastating against bigger men as he was at middleweight, but this is unkown and given his short frame nit guaranteed.

You dont know much do you? Calzaghe was 6'0 even, Hearns was a legit 6'2". And to say Calz had faster hands than Hearns just shows pure ignorance. Tommy had some of the quickest hands in history, and was by far a bigger puncher with more skill than Joe.

Hagler at his best would have grinded Calz down, and won clearly.

:nono:nono:nono 1.Hearns had about 2 inches on calzaghe 2.I dont think Joe had an Iron chin, better than Hearns but He could be hurt 3. Calzaghe has fast hands but not as fast as Tommys 4. While Hearns might have not had the best chin he had a warriors mentality against Hagler he went right at him and even wobbled Hagler something Slapper Joe would not be able to do and if he retaliated with aggression hed take a serious as* whupping,Hagler would love for Joe to fight that way and would have finshed what roy and the Non aggressive B-hop failed to capitalize on. I think you might have a point about 160 being his weight, but he was great enough to even if he did lose a little moving up hed still be great and I have no doubt hed beat calzaghe especially if Calzage came at Hagler like you mentioned. If Calzaghe boxed smart and and tryed to outwork Hagler hed have a better chance and it would be close until Hagler got him late.

    Exactly right.

Marvin was far more natural, fluid and at ease in the ring and would have dominated these three fighters. All three are lacking in critical areas to match up with an ATG like Hagler. Marvin stops all three under the distance.

cw carl thompson was eubanks' only stoppage loss and that in 2 fights.

there is a difference between the two questions :
    (1) who was better ?
    (2) did the supposedly worse could beat the supposedly better ?

    ****in ZOMBIE:lol:

Another gobbling box-rec hound who know's ****-all about ****-all, if you had a twin he'd be called USELESS as you're CLUELESS.

We all know what historical precedent means you muppet, in that anyone can beat anyone at any time & especially if they carrying a gun & (realistically) thats what Eubank would have needed.

What you DON'T know about boxing could fill a BOOK:smoke

Hagler would have destroyed Calzeghe. Iron chin ? Down v.s. Hopkins and Jones ... come on.

I love Joe's heart, dedication and conditioning. I think he was a unique fighter that would be a challenge for many to defeat but against Hagler he would be outclassed by a razor sharp, fast , murderous punching guy that he could not hurt if his life depended on it ...

It's a very good fighter fighting a great fighter.

100% spot on IMO, yer beat me 2 it, as you pointed out just imagine Joe attacking Hagler in the fashion he did against B-Hop/Jones, jeezus, it don't bare thinking about, shredded comes to mind, Hagler had too be one of the most accurate & economic puncher/counterpunchers of all time.

I remember poor "Sibbo" sat in his dressing room just after he'd been stopped by Hagler & he just shook his head & said Honestly, "He's just so accurate" all the time. If that had been Hagler instead of B-Hop/Jones that put Joe down then Joe would have stayed down or he'd have been smashed up in the next assault gauranteed:bbb

If you judged Eubank on boxrec you'd probably think he was pretty crap. Records poor apart from Benn win.

Hagler by late TKO. Marvin was forged in a different fire in a different era. Chris would get in all of the sound bytes, **** Hagler off on their pre-fight 12-city tour and get raked by an assortment of combos whilst trying to shut Hagler down.
