Well GGG's jab to me at the middleweight is much better than Duran's was and no one has a better hook to the body. You could argue Duran's defense, and combinations were more accurate, but even if they were say 20% better GGG hits so damn hard, he's better.
I'm a big fan of Golovkin, but I just can't see what he brings to beat Hagler. He's up against a fighter with an all time great chin, who's also multi faceted, I just think Hagler skill wise and with added toughness has a little bit too much.
I don't think anyone could definitively pick the winner of this match. I will say Triple G looked much better cutting off the ring against Brook than Hagler ever did against Leonard
Well, Hagler wasn't exactly sought after. He had to wait until his 50th pro fight to even get a title shot. Hugo Corro blatantly ducked Hagler. If there were four belts to go after, nobody would've fought Marvin, either. By comparison, Golovkin got a title shot in his 18th bout. I'd lean towards Marvin. He was about as complete a fighter as there ever was. Golovkin is a great champion, though. Toss-up.
you say its not his fault, yet as I said, he didn't fight for a major title UNTIL he reached the age Hagler was retiring from a 7 year undisputed reign. whose fault is it that he didn't have a major title until his mid30s? Meanwhile, Marvin fought 50 fights by his mid20s to get where he was, he obviously wanted something. 3G didn't want and didn't get until aged about ..33?. Why would hordes avoid someone who hadn't even reached world level by that age? There is simply little truth in "its not his fault". It is his DIRECT ACTIONS that have led to his very late rise.
Oh, Hagler was intimidated by Duran., and he was gun shy for a while and being outboxed by Mugabi. GGG can intimidate too and like I said hits 2-3 times harder.
GGG can't pull off the moves Duran did vs Hagler. Hagler was shocked by how clever and skilled Duran was. GGG is excellent but he's robotic. He cant roll, slip and counter like Duran. Those are the things Duran did that made Hagler cagey in their fight.
Hagler wasn't always the Bull in there, he wouldnt try and fight fire with fire or else he would be beat up. He would fight a disciplined fight and try to box cleverly. GGG's amazing footwork would keep him in range. He would go downstairs and wreck havoc on Marvin. For me it's a points victory for Hagler or a late stoppage for GGG, seriously I just don't know....
at least hagler fought duran and won Golovkin wants no part of erislandy lara. no case can be made for anybody beating hagler when they made it very clear they wont fight a guy like lara
do you not see any difference between brooks footwork and leonards ? leonard had atg ring generalship. brook nowhere near
