It was close bout. I thought Triple G won clearly because of his jab and authoritive punching. However some people do believe Jacobs won. So maybe clear is the wrong term. Semantics could be better, I'll say I felt Triple G won as do the majority of fans and almost all of the major news outlets. A very competitive bout. I disagree about Triple G ko'ng "mediocre" fighters as not impressive in other "fighters" eyes. Most fighters I have seen have the utmost respect for Triple GGG. If anything it's fans that dislike him for whatever reason that try to disparage him or his opposition. I think his skills are quite evident. And I think his resume is solid at middleweight. I value guys like Jacobs, Lemieux, Murray, Macklin and although he was a blown up Welter Brook. It's not a great resume but I feel it's very good. Would be nice if Canelo would step into the ring with him. Many fighters have avoided him.
Triple G resume is littered with much more meh fighters than good, let alone great fighters. I see no reason to put him in a thread with the marvelous one at this point.
Embarrassing . He took on the the #1 contender for the first time in his career and he came away deserving a loss. But in the eyes of casuals like you his stature as a boxing ATG God remains untouched and his chances against Hagler were the same as they always were And Jacobs was the same weight as Golovkin but not nearly as heavy handed. Why stop there , im sure you can build Jacobs up better than that. Let me help: -GGG was fighting away from kazakhstan -It was on Jacobs home turf -He was a boiled down cruiser weight -He knocked out ATG Peter Quitlin in one round -He's a future hall of famer -He will dominate the division after GGG -He will move up and clear out super middle - Ward would have lost to him -GGG was actually sick - GGG over looked him -GGG intentionally looked poor to bait a fight with Canelo
So what are you saying on another thread you're crying no one is giving credit to Jacobs for a good fight. Now your trying to bash him by claiming I am overhyping him. You can't have it both ways but that's what happens when you're an armchair fan such as yourself. Stop being so butt hurt. You hate Wlad and now Triple G. Pathetic
When did i bash him? I never bashed him. Your over hyping of him is done for no other reason than to give GGG extra credit. You even went so far as to say his victory was even better because Jacobs is a roid user. You are the same clown who said Wlads losses were a 'good thing' . No fighter in the history of the sport ever had fools saying their losses were a 'good thing'. Son , you are an embarrassment. A casual bumboy. A WWE fan. A flavour of the month.
Hahahah and yet you **** ride all my posts. I'm in your head arm chair. I never said Jacobs is a roid user I said those allegations are serious and the fact he has victor Conte in his camp is a red flag. Any non biased - observer would agree. Of course you are filled with bias so you can't look at anything rationally. And I'm not giving Triple G EXTRA credit- I'm giving him credit. He fought the #1 contender, and won. He was 5 years older than said contender shorter and lighter. Those are facts armchair. Sad person you are. Maybe you should get off the couch and try and involve yourself in the sport it would help you appreciate it more and not view it like a video game.
Wow GGG was 5 years older. How did he do it at the geriatric age of 34 Most guys are sitting in their rocking chair at that age. Unbelievable. 34 and he beat a 29 y /o . Holly smokes.
Sad , really , really sad , its the type of drivel only a mickey mouse fan of certain fighters would make. Hagler was reflecting on his career as one of the top greatest p4p boxers in the sports history. Thats what he was doing.
frankwornank - Thanks for your acknowledgement. Your alternative approach, however, remains based on a broad speculation and something that currently looks like some good GGG stats. The gap between Golovkin and most of his opposition has been so wide that to put emphasis on the manner of his dealing with this level of competition is hard to support with great enthusiasm. Would any observer, with some knowledge of Golovkin, expect anything less than for him to look impressive against these types of opponent? A case in point can be made from his last outing. Golovkin just managed to squeak past Jacobs, in a bout that could quite easily have gone the other way. The talent and appearance 'gap' was emphatically closed. Golovkin was made to look human and a lot less 'impressive' than he had in previous outings. Jacobs is a good quality fighter but he's no Hagler. And yet, with a good all-round game, he was was able to take Golovkin to the wire.
