Its impossible to make a GGG thread without the trolls flooding in Likewise, its almost as bad trying to make a current fighter could beat a Hagler thread Golovkin could do it
Against Brook, Golovkin showed (again) how easy he is to hit; how his bulldozer approach saw him miss widely and how he could be temporarily stopped in his tracks by a few fleeting combos. When I think about the attacking style of Hagler; the workrate, the armory and the accuracy; how Hagler would not be deterred by Golovkin's power; how much harder Hagler would punch and how many more punches Hagler would have landed through rounds 1 to 4 than Brook; it becomes clear to me how easy this fight would be for Hagler.
Hagler on points coming on stronger in the later rounds or late 11th round stoppage. If Mugabi couldnt derail him with his power shots then no one else could. Mugabi with a 25-0 and 25 ko's was the real deal at JMW and had a legit chance of dethroning him based on power only. Hagler put on a master class and systematically broke him down. Mugabis power was scary but so again was Haglers ability to take anyone's best and come back eating them up like pacman. Only SRL could outsmart him with pattypan combos but then again GGG is no SRL.
Because GGG doesn't walk through punches like Hagler. And Hagler ate them from faced elite punchers. Brook had GGG's head bobbing. I suspect that you didn't expect to receive the answers that have been giving when you created this thread. At first you were so confused. Now GGG would win. Anyhow, Hagler is a boxing god my friend. GGG with his heavy, heavy hands is too slow and robotic for Hagler.
Some haven't; many more wouldn't and several more won't. But "easy" is a relative term and, if we're talking a prime Hagler; a top-5 ATG Middleweight, who is regularly pitted against the likes of Monzon, SRR and Greb in speculative fantasy match-ups then Golovkin, in my opinion, is a relatively easy opponent for Hagler. Golovkin hasn't faced any opponent even close to someone of Hagler's caliber. His best win is probably David Lemieux, unless we now count Brook as his flagship victory. What is there really, other than punching power, demonstrated against a string of either modestly skilled or under-powered/sized opposition, which indicates Golovkin would pose a significant problem for Hagler?
You should really not come on here if you have to ask that question... To start Bennie Briscoe at the time Hagler fought him is better than anyone on GGG's resume. Hagler was PROVEN to have a iron chin against good quality HEAVY hitters. Golovkin on the other hand just hasn't been tested. Don't take that for him having a good chin. If Brook can buckle GGG's legs then Hearns would take GGG out not question. It is a disgrace to the ATG's and boxing as a whole to even suggest that Brook is anywhere near the puncher of Hearns or that GGG has fought even close to quality of opponents as Hagler did. Hagler was a truly avoided fighter...GGG was served the titles on a silver platter compared to Marvelous.
Triple G. Is tailor made for Hagler. Hagler defeated many fighters, pretty easily I may add just like him. A slow fisted bomber without great defense or foot speed. Beating up on natural welters, or fighters who never was , doesn't put Triple G in the same class as a Marvelous Marvin.
2-3 times harder. Seriously? You must have a limited understanding of physics. Regardless, Hagler wins this fight. His chin is proven granite. Remember GGG cuts off the ring to catch boxers. Hagler will be standing in front of him trading. If GGG takes that option his chin eventually folds. If not, he moves backwards and boxes in an unfamiliar style.
It's hard for me to visualize Hagler vs. GGG, but I know GGG would have taken out SRL in a similar fashion to how he took out Brook. Hagler beat SRL, but he didn't beat the judges expectations. GGG has some abilities that Hagler needed in that fight.
You mean, Ray Leonard would have suffered a broken eye socket and his corner would have thrown the towel in too? What are the odds?
Decent odds that GGG is going to break an opponents bone, or the corner will stop the fight. It happens often with this guy actually.
