I do find it funny how in these mythical matchups we always assume the old school fighter is coming into 2021 to fight. How about if GGG actually had to fight at the weight his belts were for? Do you think he would seem drained? Would he fight just as well as he normally does? Also surely the arguement of fighting against fighters coming up in weight loses some validity when those fighters in question go on to achieve good things at middleweight or higher? How many great people has GGG beaten that weren't coming up in weight? Anyway to answer the question. I think it would be a close but clear Hagler win 7-5 ish. Unless of course GGG has to weigh in at 160 and fight for 15 rounds. In which case Hagler dominates the end of the fight and wins a 10-5 or 9-6 type decision.
What GGG has against him is that he never looked good against decent competition. Jacobs sucks imo and initially fought scared in his fight with GGG but started to lose that fear as the fight went on and finished. Which was opposite of what happened with Hagler/Duran. The fight critics like to use against Hagler. I'm confident that Hagler would have stopped Duran in a rematch. GGG fought Canelo twice and didn't make any improvements. He looked pitiful against Derevyanchenko. He doesn't deserve to be compared to a fighter like Hagler.
Hagler by homicide. GGG is not of that life. If Canelo and Jacobs gave him a tough time I dread to think what Marvelous Marvin would do to him.
Ggg didn't prove highly skilled against good opposition and yea I disagree prime Haglers hands were quicker than Canelo's at 160
Golovkin comes into the ring at 175lbs and Hagler because he fought when the weigh ins were the day of the fight so Hagler would be coming the ring same as he weighed in which was normally 158lbs, people will think ‘it doesn’t matter, Hagler would still beat him’ trust me that weight difference at the highest level in boxing does matter massively, Hagler would be making 147lbs today and rehydrating to 158lbs instead of weighing in at 158lbs
One thing for certain it would be a barn burner. No prisoners taken Could go either way but if forced to make a decision I'd have to go with Marvellous Marvin
Really? Mugabi is the fight you pick? The fight where leonard himself says it was obvious hagler had declined?
