i got hagler by TKO in 10, he will be too much for calzaghe, calzaghe pity pats will be no match for hagler short accurate strong punches on the inside
Oh boy this would have been really a treat to the sport of boxing. I think Hagler will be beaten to the punch most of the time but takes JC's punches well. In the end I think Hagler wins by hard fought late TKO.
Hagler wasn`t a huge puncher and John Mugabi had not problem hitting Marvin with plenty of shots. Joe would hit Hagler at will all night.
he find them heavier bc he is a shot fighter that cant handle alot of punches anymore what is so hard to understand,, im talking about a prime hagler
Hagler simply would not have the speed. Much like Joe C. proved last night when he was a step and half away from Roy Jones sticking out his chin-Jones could not touch him. Do you think Hagler was faster than Jones?
Au contraire, Joe would be the stronger of the two and this wouldn't be a close affair at all. Hagler fought at 160 and weighed in same day. Joe had trouble making 168 and weighed in the previous day. (Hagler had competitive fights with Leonard and Duran (135 and 147 starters) and didn't outmuscle either one noticably. Joe moved Bernard (who started at 175) backwards and had no strength issues with him. So Joe would be in the driver's seat in the strength category. Also in the speed, workrate and ring generalship categories. Marvin was greater lb-for-lb (whatever meaning you impute to that), but head-to-head, he'd be lucky to take more than a round or two.
I could see Calzaghe winning a decision, something like 8 rounds to 4. But I could also see Hagler winning by TKO. Great mythical matchup!
I don't see how Hagler wouldn't have to concede ground to Calzaghe with his volume of punches, speed and size/strength advantages. Calzaghe would back him up, and I don't think Hagler can perform as effectively when he is. He doesn't have the sort of power that is a huge one punch threat to Calzaghe either.
I never saw a 168 lb Hagler. If Hagler is totally p.o.'ed before the fight, ala Hearns-Hagler, then he might just walk in and put JoeCal down for the count in 3 rds. Otherwise, JoeCal outboxes him over 12 rds.
