All my white friends (all American) were rooting for Calzaghe against Roy. They were high-fiving and ****, just happy to see the white dude kick ass. I can't be mad, because I gave them hell when Floyd fought Hatton.

 

Yet another thread where nostalgia has you remembering the old guy in his prime and taking the new guy at his worst.

Calzaghe in his prime wasn't a slapper - ask people like Byron Mitchell how well those slaps felt. He reverted to that style after hand issues. The fact that Joe was able to dominate after hand problems and so late after his 30s shows how much better he likely was in his prime.

You cant count Calzaghe out h2h against anybody, the guys a fire*******! watch the Eubank fight, although I believe Eubank (past it) to be the better fighter but at a lower weight.

Calzaghe throws and throws, he can overwhelm anybody if caught offguard. You need a combination of heavy hands and skills to beat him

 

Calzaghe doesn't have to hurt Hagler. He can beat him on speed/workrate.

 

Damn, you need some new friends man. I had a mixed group of people over to watch the fight and everyone was rooting for Roy. Only assholes would be rooting for some brit to beat up, show boat and taunt a shell of a once great fighter just because he is white.
