atg!!?? Calzaghe!!?? U see statements like this is why calzaghe is the most overrated boxer in history...joe calzaghe hadnt face no one close to the level of a prime hagler,no one close that possesses tremondous power like hagler, joe would be easily beaten to a pulp!!! And one more thing, marvin hagler is a true atg,a legend.....joe is nowhere near close to even being a legend, let alone atg

    Nah, Cotto is most overrated.

He's gonna get destroyed by PAC.

Conversely, Hagler never faced a southpaw with Calzaghe's style or workrate, so the bus moves in both directions. That'sa why hypothetical threads like this exist...

i love hagler so this is hard to stay real with. but lefty vs lefty often is a mess, both these guys are so skilled i don't think this fight would be. jc would be favored if they fought at a distance, hagler if they fight inside. i 100 fights i think they would go 50/50. i think calzage is really underrated. he is way better then his carreer showed. wish he could have met a prime rjj and a prime james toney.

Why are people saying that Hagler would be at a disadvantage in a boxing match and at range?

Hagler outboxed most of his opponents. He's rangier despite being shorter, had the superior jab, and solid parrying defense. Calzaghe is the bigger guy, but at range that's not going to really show as he's not a huge puncher, and doesn't possess the advantage in reach.

Calzaghe I don't think would box the way Leonard did when he frustrated Hagler in 1987 (when both Hagler and SRL had declined) anyway. He's better in a more aggressive boxing style, not as much on the backfoot. He'll be in range and will get hit, but may outwork Hagler with quick flurries.

Hagler wins handsdown; Calzaghe hasn't fought a decent fighter in his life, he fought an old hopkins and a washed up roy jones jr

Hagler could absorb anything Calzaghe dishes out. Hagler by KO round 7.

I like Joe but Hagler was a different quality than the guys Joe fought including Jones. Hagler was strong and sharp and experienced. He would stop Calzaghe in the midrounds I think.

It works both ways. Hagler never fought anybody with Joe's combination of speed, workrate, awkwardness and chin. Joe doesn't have to hurt Hagler to win and Hagler if Hagler could be confused by Leonard's flurries, which he clearly was because they backed him up several times, Joe's flurries can do the same. Only he throws more than Leonard.
