hard to say, Calzaghe is good to throw flurrys and avoids going to war, kind of like sugar ray leonard. Something hagler dont like. But i still think hagler would kick he's ass

Yeah he did. Hagler fought better guys than Joe did. Leonard,Hearns and Duran are better than Joe's competition. Hagler would have slowly taken over the fight and stopped Joe.

He fought good lightweights/welterweights who were years past there prime, in some of the most insignificant super-fights there have been.

Hagler fought Leonard when Ray was still good, but rusty. But Hagler did fight a prime Hearns who moved up, and he also fought Duran when Duran held a junior middleweight title as Hearns did also. Hagler also fought guys like Antuofermo,Sibson, Roldan, Hamsho,Mugabi and Fully Obel, and these guys were all good fighters who were tougher than Joe's competition. I give Joe credit. I think he is great. I always defend him, but to compare him to Hagler, he does come up short. But if you compare Joe to Roy Jones Jr. he looks good. But Hagler had courage and came to fight. Roy didn't.

I am a Hagler fan. The fact is this fight would be close. Hagler had some big time wins, but also he had a few fights that where close. Vito wasn't in the same class as Joe and Marvin had a hard time with him the first time. The fact is Marvin at his best would beat Joe, but in a close fight. What I will base this on is punching power. Not one punch power but over all shots per fight. Hagler at his best could bring it round after round with hard shots. Something Joe has never seen. Yes, Joe seems to get stronger as the fight keeps going, but Haglers will and power would break down Joe in the later rounds. I think this fight would go to Hagler via UD. Hagler would win by 2 rounds on each card, ((Unless Chuck is one of the Judges then you never know)) To the person that says Joe would KO Haglers, please don't tell anyone you are a boxing fan, becaue of that statement you know nothing about Hagler or the sport of boxing. Go and watch paint dry. That is what you seem good at.

Again good fight, but Hagler via UD.

Also, to the people that bring up the SRL fight, look at things Ray has had too say about the fight since. Ray has said that once he seen Haglers fight vs The Beast he felt that was the right time to take him on. That Hagler look on the decline. Many know that Ray was very smart and waited for the right time to get Marvin in the ring. So that is like you can say, when Joe got Roy in the ring. I and many other boxing fans new that Roy wasn't going to win that fight. Roy has looked like crap for many fights. He had some steam early, but after that he was done. When I said Hagler would win via UD I didn't look or tak in account both the Hagler vs Ray fight, and Joe vs Roy Jones fight. I looked at the body of work for both fighters at their primes and how they fight.

Hagler's resume ASIDE from the big 3 is solid. It's very solid. Especially with the Antuofermos and Mugabi's. Sure he fought a few guys who didn't deserve their shot but they are mandos. Having Hearns, a PRIME hearns, a Duran who looked incredibly in his previous fight and even a faded leonard boost his resume up past joe's. Joe's most significant fights were lacy and kessler and he shined. BUT prior to take his resume kind of stinks. Hagler's years of grunt work, facing decent, good to very good mandos lock it for me.

Hagler also faced pretty good MW opposition on the road to the title.

Top 10 contenders like Willie Monroe, Boogaloo Watts (whom I felt got a hometown decision over Hagler), an aging but always tough Bennie Briscoe, the hard-hitting Cyclone Hart, undefeated top contender Mike Colbert.

Good call on Briscoe :good he was old but he was also expected to win. tough, great hook, wonderful jab...all of which were useless against Hagler. To my mind, that fight is the best hagler ever BOXED. Briscoe was never a mover and hagler used wonderful movement, a tremendous jab and carefully timed combinations to dominate a periennial top 10 contender

I would say the best Hagler ever boxed was the Sibson fight.

I used to watch Hagler in the 70's and 80's, amazing boxer. He'd stomp on JC.
