P4P? Hagler is a WAY better fighter.

I like Marciano plenty. A fighter can get very far on being inhumanly tough, inhumanly powerful, and having good stamina. That was Rocky. But Hagler was ultimately as tough and powerful within his own time and his own division. And Hagler was much more in addition to that.

I have read Marciano used to walk around at close to 200 lbs, and that he'd cut down to 185

Seriously, I am a big Hagler fan. But Marciano ko's him. This isn't a debate. No chin is unbreakable. Marciano had the power of a hard hitting 210 lb heavyweight. No way can Hagler withstand that.

Haglers walk around weight was actually only just above his fighting weight of 160 so there goes that.

He fought at 178 but his best weight was 190.....Hagler came in at under 160.....the Rock physically beat up heavyweigts and before trimming down was closer to 230-250 range.....Hagler aas as shredded, trim and fit to fight 15 rds as MMH was at 160..Haglers era had same day weigh ins like the Rocks....seeing what the Rock did to trimmed down solid 200lb world class fighters with the horse hair sol levinson gloves is all I need to know...Hagler never fought a ltheavy because he himself said they were too big and he was a natural middleweight

If Hagler made weight soon before the fight-& he was usually in the late 150's-he would not be able to rehydrate as much as someone who has a 24 hour weigh in.
Also you are factually wrong that Marciano's weight did not fluctuate.
You must have meant it did not vary that much-& only that is accurate if you qualify for in fights, because he walked around several lbs. over 200.
The poster above made good points, but a couple of typo errors-he must have meant that Rocky walked around at 203-205 which is accurate. At 230-250 he would be fat!

He said himself he was best at 187/188, you can see it on video.
But for whatever reason, I am sure earlier in his career, he was 178 at his lightest.
That is not him at his very best.

Also Hearns had the body structure to make CW without seeming to bulked up.
But while a devastating puncher below MW, & hit hard at MW, not so much at CW.

Back to the match up: Hagler was almost as tall as Rocky, & with much longer arms.
But in natural size & power Rocky had a large advantage. Mostly in a much thicker lower body.
I think even a fairly green Marciano would eventually overwhelm Hagler.
Who likely could not hurt him, or keep Rocky off for a whole bout.

Hagler refused to move up knowing he fought at his ideal weight.
He could have made 154 if necessary & the money & glory was there.
He could have gained redundant muscle & made 175, but he likely would be at best a competitive, not champion, let alone ATG, LHW.

Rocky by KO in a few rounds. Rehydration and all this exaggeration means nothing.

I like Hagler but he would be starched. He was a middle, and nothing but a middle. Never tried to fight higher, so why are we pretending?

Of course Hagler would get flattened, it's a silly match-up.

Funnily enough, Hagler is actually closer in size to Rocky than Rocky is to Lewis, Bowe and the Klitschkos, and there are people on here who think Rocky would've KO'd all four of them!

Hagler was one of the few lighter-weight class fighters who knew exactly who and what he was, and was best at - middleweight. Nothing more, nothing less. He had solid belief in himself, but would know such a match would be ludicrous. Oddly enough though, I think Hearns would entertain something like this ...

Hagler was an outstanding middleweight and he was more skilled in many aspects imo, but hasn't the power, strength, or size advantage even, to successfully challenge Rocky. Rocky is stronger and mauls him on the inside up close. He'd stop Marvin in the first half of the fight.

    Weightclasses exist for a reason.
