Middleweight. Would one of the best middleweights in history topple a guy who was nearly considered unbeatable at his prime?
I'm not even going to vote on this poll...too hard to decide. Hagler was a machine...whilst Jones Jr prime is considered nearly unbeatable like you said. But the important word in that sentence is considered...
Jones would smoke him, make it look easy, everyone would have immediately started calling Hagler a bum and complaining that RJJ never fights anybody tough.
Don't get me wrong...nothing against Jones resume, he has some very big and great wins. But are any of them on par with the calibre of a Hagler? Who many consider the greatest Middleweight of All Time...:huh
you have to remember that the majority of these Roy Jones fan boys on here are 18 years old never even saw Jones fight in his Prime and were not even alive when Hagler was fighting. Hagler was not scared to go overseas to get his belt. Jones refused to travel, handpicked fights, had an abysmal Glass Jaw and did nothing but collect vacant belts and make excuses. Hagler was a tough SOB with an Iron Chin and mentally strong as it gets. Hagler would chew Jones up and spit him out. You think Hagler would dare to make some of the ridiculous excuses Jones had made throughout his career? :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Hagler was a real fighter.
Damn it Rico, your as bad as the RJJ nuthuggers. Hagler would beat Jones, but it wouldn't be the thrashing you envision either. atsch Are there any neutral posters on Gen anymore?
I'm a massive Hagler fan but I have to concede that with movement and speed alone he would've gave Hagler a tought, tough time. Jones would be at a safe distance throughout and it would've been up to Hagler to go after him and catch the judges eye with continued, controlled aggression. A lot closer than people would think. I'd favour Hagler on points but not wide by any means.
I think there is a good chance Roy could outpoint Hagler at MW, which was not Roy's best weight... 50-50 fight in my opinion.
