160 is too light for Roy...Roy was his best at light heavyweight...that is why Roy would win, he's a bigger guy and he's faster...now if Roy had to come down to 160 it might be a different story....Roy in his prime was the best ever light heavy IMO.
Haglers one of my favorites but he takes an L to Jones who imo is a top 10 ATG. He literally was unbeatable...just hung around too long, lost speed and took unnecessary L's to opponents bc he obviously needed the money.
Roy wins the first half of this fight clearly. But down the stretch, Hagler would have a chance. He can take Roy's best punch
this is the funniest **** i've ever seen, hagler was an amazing fighter but stylistically this matchup would be a nightmare. roy was simply too fast with the power to boot he'd win a wide wide decision. think with your minds not your hearts. head 2 head roy was far better than SRL.... any SRL
I would not be shocked at all if you had not seen any of these fights, especially if you think either was ''destroyed by Jones'' . Del Valle and Harding was actually more competitive than a lot of fighters than Jones faced at those times. Del Valle knocked him down and he was very cautious against Harding. He couldn't knock out either of them. And on Tarver/Jones 1, i actually remember giving Tarver that fight by a few rounds. I'll have to post my exact scorecard later.
Harding was one of RJ's most competitive fights during his prime. It was somewhat competitive. I think Harding ripped some muscle on his arm in the 10th and had to quit. RJ didn't really go after people. He likes to counter and excelled against guys who came hard at him. Those are the ones who got KOed by him. The ones who laid back had some success like Harding and Griffin. Hagler coming straight forward would play right into RJ's wishes.
I have seen every Roy Jones fight pretty much. And Jones was up on all the judges scorecards by a good lead against Harding, Yeah he was having a little trouble, but Harding did have to quit the fight. Jones vs. Del Valle, the score was like 119-109 unanimous even with Del Valle's knockdown., I would call that an ass whipping. People say Calzaghe destroyed Jones, even though Joe was dropped, and beat Jones with virtually the same score as Jones did to Del Valle, have you ever seen the Del Valle fight? Or do you just say Jones had trouble because of the knockdown. In truth, other than the flash knockdown, It looked like any other Jones shutout.
Prime Hagler had better footwork than Jones, was equally slick, but not as fast. Jones would have early success, but soon become discouraged by Hagler's iron chin and comparable pop, be forced onto the back foot, and Hagler would outpoint a cautious Jones, winning a UD
