Inspired by @Richard M Murrieta grumbling about another Monzon vs Hagler thread how about Marvin vs Langford who I believe fought for several years at the Middleweight limit? Is this a fight we can realistically make a prediction about?
After pondering this fight, I'll go with Langford. The man's record is absolutely crazy. Over 300 fights with multiple wins over Joe Jeanette and Sam Mcvea, and he beat Stanley Ketchel, Philidelphia Jack O Brien , Tiger Flowers, who beat Greb for the middleweight title and scores of other scalps. He even went 15 rounds with Jack Johnson in a losing effort. Can anyone imagine Hagler going 15 with Johnson or beating heavyweights? My conclusion: Langford takes a UD in a brutal fight where Marvin is battered.
I am not grumbling but growling. Ha Ha. A good thread, I like to see different threads like this one. Great Job !
Haha. Fair enough Rich but the winner here has to face Monzon in a follow up thread. Fate cannot be avoided unless you’re picking Langford - I’m actually favouring Sam myself in this match up. So Langford v Monzon potentially coming your way my man....expect big PPV numbers.
Now Monzon vs Langford is a unique matchup, not a rerun of Monzon vs Hagler that does not seem to go away like a bad penny. Ha Ha.
As much as I like Marvin Hagler, it only took me a micro second to pick Sam Langford in this match up. Sam has an insurmountable experience advantage here.
