Andrew Golota? I dunno, he’s a few divisions too big for these fellas, isn’t he? But then again, Langford did knock them out big and small. As to the other poll, it’s never too late.
Sam ruins Hagler. Sorry but I think that is the most likely outcome. Hagler couldn't intimidate Sam, whereas Hagler was intimidated by both Duran and SRL. Langford would have him petrified.
Picked Langford but couldn’t go either way with much confidence. Marvin is the greater middleweight by resume … I think … but Langford was one helluva fighter.
Langford by his own admission was pre-prime at middle and hadn't had his tutorial on punching yet, the one that opened doors for him. Hagler would win that match for me.
I'm wondering how Langford would handle Marvin's southpaw stance.? Did Sam fight any righties? It's popularly believed that Langford had the cuffs on against Ketchel and could have put him in his place, but for business reasons refrained from doing so,however he was quite a bit heavier in that fight. Hagler makes my top 4 at middle but there are a couple of so so performances on his record, the first Antuofermo fight and the Duran bout where he seemed unduly cautious against the Panamanian. I think this fight could go either way ,a dec for Marvin or a stoppage win for Sam. I don't know if I buy this "Sam was pre prime at middle"stuff. As late as 1911 he scaled 161lbs for a 20 rds fight with McVey ,McVey was 40 lbs heavier and Langford held him to a draw. Langford had106 fights under his belt at the time, that's surely enough pugilistic education. I don't think Hagler could emulate that feat. If forced to pick I go for Sam.
