You said Hagler wasn't in brutal fights. Come back when you understand anything about anything....

You misunderstood. Robinson fought in conditions that were so gruelling they once had to stop the fight to change the referee because he couldn't keep up any longer. They had to pull the ref out and replace him and Ray battled on.
He once fought 3 times in a single month. Two of those fights were against LaMotta. And all 3 went the distance.
Without a shadow of a doubt Robinson had a much more brutal career than Hagler. Mugabi leathered the chit of out Hagler , thats why that fight was brutal for him.
Come back when you have a greater knowledge of SRR.

Robinson was knocked down in the second of their six goes when he was still a young welter and Jake a seasoned middleweight, he returned to beat him weeks later. Nothing in Robinson's history hints he would be stopped by Marvin any more then Vito in their first go or Duran in their title fight. Having straightened that out the fight to me is almost a 50/50 toss up, Robinson could still move and box for 15 at middle and Marvin the same, both had iron jaws, speed, every punch in the book and could ko with either hand.

You've seen the same film the rest of us have and I will agree its boring against a bigger, stronger man. Nothing was awkward however, every step and punch he threw was balanced and he had distance and timing down to a T, he just didn't throw much, just single shots and didn't get hit often. It looked like he might have a good right hand but he never landed it solidly to show it in this fight.

Robinson was on the canvas in his first three fights with LaMotta.

Stop moving the goalposts. If you think Gene is bad, how about you take a look at the fighters you listed as impressive KO's for Marvin. Some are downright atrocious when compared to Gene. See where we are going here? Nobody said Gene was the best ever, or had a great reign, or the best beard this side of the Mississippi... but then what does that say about the guys you listed?

This fight would be sooo close. Hagler getting in close, trying to rough up Ray. Robinson firing off jabs and throwing uppercut s. I think it would be a very physical fight with both men going to the trenches at times. Both guys pushed to the limits I think and a lot of pride. But I feel winner by very close unanimous Dec is Robinson. But he would be close to death at the Bell. And marvin wouldn't grouch about losing this one

Since you don't think I contribute much I thought I'd put this ko up for you to refute.

I agree. Robinson wasn`t the same fighter after he came back from his attempt at a dancing career. He was inconsistent and he couldn`t sustain his movement. He was more flatfooted and easier to find.

I believe the Sugar Ray from the early 50s beats just about any middleweight. This is a close matchup because Hagler was an exceptional fighter and maybe this is a series fights. Sugar Ray wins the series IMO.

One of my favorite highlights. That right hand by Sugar Ray was a thing of beauty.

Exactly. In his early days at 160 he was still ridiculously good unlike the inconsistent lesser version later on. It's hard to make a case for anyone against him which is really saying something considering he was at his absolute finest at 147.

SRR was 34 when he came back and had been retired 3 years, very few would recapture their form at that stage of their careers.

That`s understandable not to mention that he already had 100+ fights on his odometer.

I don't think he was down in all 3 of them.
