People saying Leonard should be higher than Hagler at MW are talking silly . Hagler is a great MW ATG , one of the very best . I think his resume is good , but if people do doubt it then think about this - great fighters , when they fight lesser oposition they show the gap in class , Hagler did this , he destroyd oponents who were of a lesser class . He was an unshakable rock of a fighter , like Monzon , their styles were diffrent , but they were both very methodical in their attack and never strayed from their gameplan . Rank him below Monzon and Robinson if you must , but he is with them and Greb , Ketchel and Hopkins at MW

I mean ray robinson at his middleweight prime, lost clearly to turpin. Turpin is basically a tony sibson level fighter, he wouldnt be in the IBHOF if it wasnt for that win over robinson. Ray Robinson at the age of 33 lost to ralph jones, while hagler arguably beat sugar ray leonard.

The only people anyone can criticise hagler for ducking are herol graham and mike mccallum, thats about it.

I mean can anyone honestly rank ketchel above him based on beating philly jack o brien twice, that seems to be his only big win aside papke.

Good points, I would say Turpin is underated but I actualy think it was just a stylistic advantge he had when fighting Robinson , plus strength aswell , Turpin was strong . The reason I think this is because Turpin lost to Bobo Olsen , so it was probably just a stylistic thing with Robinson I think - the jab and the strength to push Ray back . The thing you must remember with Robinson at 160 though , is that he was past his best and fighting guys who had good styles against him (in terms of using size advantge against a fast fighter) like Fulmer etc. and he was still finding ways to beat them , in a golden era for that division
