    I say:

    a. Hart has no chance.
    b. Mendoza is just playing the Brit angle w you

Bruno would have crush Hart ... a small, slow, highly hittable guy with average power was made to order for Bruno ...

Hart would be a solid 220 pound man mountain today.

He was not described by his contemporaries as being slow. Do you have tape?

You must like stepping on rakes. I think Hart was very inconsistent and one of the worst lineal champions of all time. The fact that he beat Johnson in a high stakes fight tells me a lot about Johnson when he was matched vs. a live body not too old, small or slow.

As for Ferguson, he wasn't very good. He lost and drew more than he won. Yet I showed you he was also even on the cards at the time of the DQ fight with Johnson.

Ross was a joke of a title defense. What did he win, 1 of his last 5 when Johnson gave him a title shot?

Now, listen up!!! The fact that Ferguson and Ross gave Hart trouble just reinforces that Hart wasn't great. The fact that Ferguson and Ross floored Hart, yet Johnson could not match that in 20 rounds tells me Johnson lacked power, and guts in his fight with Hart.

    Conclusion:

Hart was inconsistent, and in my opinion one of the worst lineal champions. Yet in a high stakes fight, he defeated Johnson, who at the time was in his prime!

Neither Ferguson nor Ross were very good. But they apparently hit harder and than Johnson did vs the same opponent.

Result of the points you made: A downgrade for Johnson in ability by losing to Hart, and a downgrade in his hitting power / guts vs common opponents who meet Hart

The day's edification for you is now over. Have a nice day!

Hart won through grit and tenacity which is terrific but limited ... he never met anyone close to Bruno in power, jab, strength and style ... small cruisers and 235 pound slabs of muscle are simply different match ups ..

I agree the Hart match exposed JOhnson at his worst which was overconfident, arrogant and defiant .. that being said he was still clearly robbed and had defeated much better fighters before and after ...

He was fed on fried possum brains and rye whiskey. In the modern era, with a modern diet, he would be Michael Grant. Fact.

He was the fastest tree climber Hickory Hollow had seen for many decades before or after. Think Usain Bolt with a corncob pipe. Fact.

This post entertaining as it, does not warrant a serious response ,and so does not get one.

I'm going off Adam's book that is predominately first hand accounts ... it speaks for itself ... and you ? Perhaps you can show me the articles that refer to his speed and boxing ability and against what super heavyweights he demonstrated them against successfully ?

The comments that you hear are:

    He is clever.

    He has a stiff punch.

Could he perhaps be a more refined defensive fighter than you give him credit for?

The fact that he beat Johnson tells us something, because Martin, McVea, Ferguson, Langford, couldn’t do anything against Johnson!
