I tend to agree with Flabby Gut. In my opinion, Johnson was just better in most departments than Tarver, a man who in all honesty never really impressed me, other than in his second fight with Jones.

Johnson for me he is more proven ,he was competitiveduring an era of fine 175pounders,Tarver hasnt shown me much.

Tarver tends to get underrated(He's still getting world class wins in his 40's), but he struggles most against fighters like Johnson. Its a pretty favorable styles match up for Johnson.

    Johnson by UD.

Marv takes this most definitely...Tarver might be able to hang tough and put a little hurt on a tiring Johnson late but I think he gets manhandled and comprehensively outworked on the way to dropping a decision.

Tarver is more skilled and has proven he can win at 190 to 225 pounds against decent opponets........ Johnson never proved **** above 175...... BUT! I like both dude's..... Yet I favor Tarver baby......

The fight is at 175 Billy...so what Tarver did outside the weight is irrelevant, at any rate those guys aren't even close to prime Johnson's level.

I lean towards Tarver. Johnson couldn't always take the big punches of a tall, strong guy. I remember the losses to Eddie Mustapha, Saad, and Spinks very well. I think Tarver would probably take him.

Tarver on account of being technically better.
