Marvin Sonsona: The Marvelous Featherweight Filipino Fireball-The Uppercut From Hell

Marvin Doecadez Sonsona is a 5'7 24 year old Featherweight with a 19-1-1 15 KO's 1 KO loss record. Born in and fighting out of General Santos City, Cotabato del Sur, Philippines. Marvelous Marvin started boxing at the age of 7 and was trained by his uncle after turning pro Nonito Donaire Sr. took over, recently he's been working with Jun Agrabio alongside his fellow countryman John Riel Casimero. Marvin wants to make it big, in a big way, he's recently signed up with Al Haymon and has Memo Heredia as his strength and conditioning coach. He's a skilled southpaw who isn't quite as reckless as most Filipino fighters, he takes his time waiting to capitalize on his opponents mistakes, he started out with a string of KO's leveling almost all who came before him, but was put in with Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. just a little too soon, that match ending in Sonsona being KO'd with a body shot but he was young and even Manny got KO'd twice early and came back from it. But thankfully he seems to have gotten better since his loss, with a sensational KO of the solid Akifuma Shimoda, and beating Vazquez by UD in the rematch. However I really hope Sonsona doesn't choose to employ the tactics in which he fought Vazquez with in the future because he basically turned into a Featherweight Grabamir Clinchko for that match and he had terrible stamina falling down in clichés several times, so hopefully Heredia can work his questionable magic on Marvin and get him up and running and hopefully he can become a full fledged force at FW and add another name to this solid division. Yeah he won it at 19 but lost it because he didn't make weight for his next fight.

 

I would hope since Manny is a full fledged Welterweight at this point.
