Who wins and why? 12 rounds. In this scenario, we are assuming Marvis avoided Tyson. So Marvis's only ko loss is to Holmes. This fight takes place circa 1988 so George has had a few warm ups.
If chinny Marvis Frazier managed to box a perfect fight (like against James Smith) against old George Foreman (like chinny Tommy Morrison managed) he could outscore big George. But the probability of that happening is the same as rolling two dice and getting "snake eyes". Foreman wins by knockout, or TKO.
If Marvis could outbox Bonecrusher and Broad, there’s nothing stopping him from decisioning a washed up Foreman.
I’d give Marvis a strong chance of lasting longer against old George than he did Holmes or Tyson because foreman in his comeback didn’t have the speed to go strait at Marvis early like those guys did. But I’d still favor George to stop him at some point.
Ohh this could be short, painful, night for Marvis. Maybe lasting a few more rounds than against Larry, but not many.
Marvis always seems like a really good dude any time I read an interveiw with him, he was also a talented fighter but he would have to be on the top of his game to win this IMO.
The Bonecrusher fight was a good fight I recently saw it a few months ago, what surprised me in the fight is that Frazier stood up to Bonecrusher's early assault in 1st round. And survived a pretty heavy knockdown late to pull it out. Very surprising to me all in all especially when you think of Frazier getting blown away easily by Holmes, Tyson, which looked like he had no durability at all in those fights. Another fight where Frazier showed his toughness was vs Tillis, when he had a pretty torrid round in the 2nd where he came close to being stopped but survived it.
Marvis wasn't half the fighter his father was and you see how George treated him. The 98 Foreman stopped Dwight Qwai, who was a much better fighter than Marvis. Marvis would get stopped by Foreman in any stage of his career. He was not cut from the same cloth.
that actually makes sense. Also if it is during the first several fights of his comeback, 1988, Foreman was NOT as good as he became later. After 10 years off & having gotten very obese, even training hard he needed until mid 1989 against Cooper & not long after Cooney clinched it-to prove he was World Class. Holyfield was late summer 1992. So given the timeline I think Frazier had a decent shot, could go either way. Later when Foreman was Fully Online, much less so. EDIT: I see now that Foreman TKOed Qawi in his third fight/March of 1988. That was earlier than I recalled. So maybe Foreman should already be favored at that stage! But you believe even at his peak Foreman would only be favored against surviving This content is protected -Grandmothers of boxers, so we agree here for different reasons!
