You didn't hear about the Human Growth Hormone scandal surrounding Holyfield? Sports Illustrated did a big story on it

There's more to boxing than chins, or Peter would have KO's Wlad. Oleg is not as good as Wlad but it's possible he beats Peter by UD. I'm just glad the fight's finally on

My brain tells me that Peter will win even if he is grossly overrated.

On the other hand i really hope Oleg pulls off the upset... he seems like a decent bloke and he fought so hard ... i want to see him go on and make some more good money before he stops.

Well, Oleg is no speed merchant either.

I recently rewatched the 12th round with him and Rahman, and even though a lot of fatigue was involved - it still looked like Oleg was punching in treacle his punches were that slow. Obviously hard, but not real quick.

Still, great KO though. Rahman sure likes to go out in style doesn't he?????:lol:

I think you know by now I'm for Maskaev.:D And you've liked Sam Peter when he first burst onto the scene, even though he was raw & hard to watch, with those horrid haymakers, many landing rabbit punch style.

Why didn't Rahman KO Oleg if he has a shakey chin? You talk about the old Maskaev. He has a whole new team thats made the proper adjustments to his game to make him a craftier fighter. Talk about some of his strong points, like how he's 10x the skilled fighter Peter is, and don't forget to elaborate on Oleg's terrific power he gets out of that technically beautiful thrown right hand. With good handspeed for a big man. 6'-3", 230 lbs. That not chopped liver & Sam can be found pretty easliy.

So all I'm saying is stop making it sound like such a mis-match, cause its not. Each fighter has pro's & con's, & if your boy doesn't manage to land the big bomb, Oleg wins on points, cause NO WAY does Sam outbox Oleg.

    Tell me I'm wrong.:tong

Well finally they stop running! Hopefully there isn't some pullout clause in that contract.

He was gonna have to fight Sam anyways no matter what he liked. Even if they setup an interim match he'd have to. No avoiding it.

Glad he manned up like Margarito did recently and took the fight. I wish Maskaev the best but I like Sam to win big here.

I've seen Sam win boxing matches, and pretty easily too. He just doesn't have an inbetween gear. Either he boxes the whole way or he tries to take their heads off.

And Maskaev is dreadfully slow. He was slow when he was in his prime but now it is much worse. I'm not talking about compareable footspeed here, but handspeed. Sam's handspeed will be a decisive factor imo.

Yeah, Oleg has slowed down a bit. But I was thinking about his 2nd fight with Rahman, were after exhaustion set in on both fighters, Hasim's slowness actually made Oleg look fast!:yep

That's cause the ones whom he boxes the whole way are better than the tomato cans whom he takes the head off of, and he can't pull his quick KO thing on a top ten fighter who knows how to box.

But I like Peter. He seems like a great guy, regardless of the weenies he has promoting him. I hope Peter does well and gives a good showing of himself, but this fight is all about the O..........the BIG O! :good

    Maskaev by decision.

    Misconception.

He knows how to let off the gas and box his way to a decision. Robert Hawkins is no better than Jeremy Williams or Taurus Sykes. The difference is Hawkins went into survival mode from the outset. Sam got wise and just switched back to boxing. And he won easily.

Also I don't get where this conception comes from that Maskaev is a boxer. He has been outboxed many a time in his career and always seemed to rely on one or two well placed punches to turn a fight around. Just because he soundly outboxed Sinan Sam doesn't mean he is a good boxer. It just means Sinan Sam can't box as well.
